Financial Planning Consultant Residency Program

Raymond James offers a unique financial planning training program designed to provide foundational experience and education to select individuals who are interested in careers as Raymond James financial advisors. The program combines the consistent application of a best practices approach to financial planning with the understanding of the importance of providing the highest level of client service at all times.

Through job shadowing, self study, conference attendance and more, participants will learn to apply Raymond James' industry-leading advisory process to the full range of client scenarios, assess client needs, and develop unique planning strategies based on client goals and situations.

Over the course of the two-year program, participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience, culminating with the opportunity to transition to a Raymond James branch as a financial advisor trainee.

Individuals interested in applying for the Financial Planning Consultant Residency Program must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or
    university,
  • Possess one to three years' experience in the financial, retirement or estate planning fields, or have experience in marketing these services,
  • If needed, be willing to relocate to another branch upon completion of the program, either within the same geographic area or in another state,
  • Hold Series 7, 66, and Life, Health and Variable Annuity licenses, or have the ability to obtain them within two years,
  • Hold the wealth management specialist (WMS) designation, or have the ability to obtain it within two years, and
  • Be a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, or have the ability to obtain the certification within two years.

The application period for the January 2009 class will be opened in October 2008.
