At MCM we are committed to developing strong relationships with our clients, characterized by a complete knowledge of the unique situation of the individual. A clear understanding of client goals, risk tolerance, time horizon, attitudes and preferences is essential to achieving our mission.
We emphasize one-on-one meetings with our clients whenever possible. We strive to be accessible and accommodating. A rapport and depth of understanding is achieved and maintained only through regular two-way communication with those we serve.
All five members of our team have a working knowledge of every client in the practice. We each have areas of specialized expertise and we all contribute to providing solutions for our clients.
As part of our service, we offer an array of educational opportunities. Central to this is our quarterly client newsletter published in January, April, July and October. Additionally, we sponsor periodic investor education and client appreciation events, often in the form of a luncheon or evening seminar.
METHODOLOGY
At MCM we adhere to Modern Portfolio Theory as the basis of our investment management philosophy. MPT calls for a portfolio with appropriate exposure to each of the key asset classes: cash, fixed income, US stock, non-US stock and real estate/tangibles.
We consider the risk and return characteristics of each asset class as well as the correlation of price movements among the different asset classes. We seek to build a portfolio capable of producing returns that will achieve client goals while minimizing exposure to risk.
We seek to add value by adjusting sector and industry exposure based on our analysis of the market. Based on market conditions, we will also systematically raise cash to manage risk or deploy cash to capitalize on perceived opportunities.
We often make use of trailing stop orders on equity holdings as a strategy to narrow the range of potential outcomes. A trailing stop order, which is a standing order to sell at a price below the current market, can be used to lock in a certain profit level or protect against additional price declines. Finally, we pay particular attention to building a mix of investments which are designed to produce sufficient lifetime income to meet client needs.
