Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.
~Sally Koch
We donate a percentage of our net advisory fees to several non-profit organizations, chosen by our clients.
- This charitable partnership program provides a recurring revenue stream to the organizations at no additional cost to the client; truly a win-win program for everyone involved. We are proud to have initiated this program in 2010 and look forward to many more years. We consider ourselves partners with our clients in the donation since it wouldn’t happen without all of us.
Together, we can make a difference!
Here are some of the highlights from the organizations we are personally supporting and volunteering for:
· We love helping the
Colorado Chapter of Make-A-Wish which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since being founded in 1983, the chapter has granted more than 3,500 wishes to children. Gary Poling, president and founder of True North Capital Group, is a member of the Board of Directors and he volunteers as a Wish Grantor with his wife Lorena. Together they have helped over 35 children realize their wish. We are very fortunate to be part of this great organization.

· We support
Brent’s Place which is a wonderful organization that provides a clean place to stay for kids and their families while the child undergoes cancer treatment and has immunity deficiencies. Gary is a member of the finance and audit committee and the chair of the sponsorship committee for Kid's Cure for Cancer. Kid's Cure is a great event that draws several thousand people each summer to help Brent's families.

· We support Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver which builds and sells quality housing to low-income families who need a safe, decent and affordable place to call home. · Gary and his wife Lorena also support the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado and have served on the Grant Review Committee for 2011 and 2012. The mission of the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado (LCFC) is to promote Latino philanthropy and to support organizations serving the Latino community.
· Gary currently serves on the stewardship committee and also as an usher at Saints Peter and Paul Church. He and Lorena also help with other activities such as the annual church festival and serve as greeters.
What have we learned?
While working in our community, we’ve discovered that giving back provides a constant reminder to be thankful for what we have and that we can always learn from others. At the end of the day, we seem to be the ones receiving so much from them! From the people involved in the foundations and charities, to the families that are being helped, we continue to meet many new people and make special friendships.
