The challenges facing financial advisors and branch managers aren’t ones Scott had to learn about vicariously. He walked the walk and talked the talk as an RJFS branch manager himself in Greenville, South Carolina, where he faced his own tests in managing client relationships, interacting with Raymond James headquarters and doing the work of a financial advisor. “I can say ‘I understand what you are going through,’” he says, “and relate to the compliance, supervisory and sales issues I used to face.”
Scott believes that to carry out his supervisory duties he should interact with financial advisors as they interact with their clients. He wants to get to know branch managers, their practices, their goals and their ideal business models. Given that knowledge, he can better address any challenges and determine how Raymond James resources can be aligned to help.
Scott began his career in the financial services industry in 1989 when he opened a new branch office with Edward Jones. He joined Raymond James in 1995 as an independent contractor and has been part of the National Sales team since 2001.

Helping Raymond James grow means recruiting high-quality advisors and providing them with the tools and support they need to grow their own practices. Bob has been doing this since 1989. During his tenure with the firm, he has served as both a financial advisor and branch manager, and has gained what he says is a deep appreciation for the Raymond James culture of independence and an empathy for the concerns of advisors.
