Practice News

Greetings from Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. at 1600 Wilson Boulevard – And the Reasons why we moved to bigger offices in Suite 905!

Late last Spring, Victor Kane, Peter Muckerman and Richard Long, formerly with Citigroup-Smith Barney, joined our branch. While each of their decisions to come to Raymond James was made separately, they had worked together for many years at Smith Barney and we are pleased to have their experience as well as their collective sense of humor to share.

Vic Kane is a knowledgeable veteran of the Financial Services Industry – he joined Legg Mason in 1996 and stayed through the acquisition of Legg Mason by Smith Barney in 2006. Vic provides a broad range of services to his clients including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, options, retirement plans, insurance and financial planning.  Vic lives in Alexandria with his wife and three small children and recently trained and competed in the “Make Cures Happen Nation’s Triathlon” sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Pete Muckerman is also a skilled veteran of the Financial Services Industry. Pete began his brokerage career at Charles Schwab and then moved to Legg Mason (which was acquired by Smith Barney in 2006). Pete’s services to his clients include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and retirement planning tailored to the needs of each individual investor. Pete lives in Alexandria with his wife and three children and spends his time fly-fishing and helping disadvantaged kids when he’s away from the office.

Rich Long began his career at Merrill Lynch in 1991. Rich left Merrill and went to Legg Mason in 1997 and continued there through the acquisition by Smith Barney. As a seasoned veteran, Rich works closely with his clients– offering stocks, bonds, options, mutual funds, and retirement plans, to name a few of his services. He, his wife, and three children live in Alexandria.

I am very happy that Vic, Pete and Rich joined us here on Wilson Boulevard. It’s a sincere pleasure for me to work with people who are as professional, smart, and client-focused as these gentlemen are!

And to bring you up to date with Michael and Karyn:

Many of you have worked with Michael Freudberg since he arrived in August 2008. Michael has taken on a number of responsibilities in this office -- when he joined us, he was a licensed broker (Series 7 and 66) as well as an Investment Advisor Representative. He is fully qualified to provide brokerage and advisory services to our clients. Additionally, Michael obtained his “Registered Securities Principal” license, which allows him to perform many of the managerial and compliance duties for the Branch. I am delighted that Michael has been able to expand his competencies in this arena – he and I work together to be sure that our branch meets and exceeds the regulatory and compliance review requirements. In addition to working with his own clients, Michael assists all of us in the branch in crafting appropriate investment strategies for our clients.

And I’m sure you can only imagine how busy Karyn Hill, our Customer Services Representative, has been in helping Vic, Pete and Rich bring their clients and their assets to Raymond James from their former affiliation! Karyn has become quite the administrative expert with her deep experience opening new accounts, filing “transfer in” paperwork, processing client requests for Investor Access (internet access to client account information), ACH transfer set-up (next day funds transfer capability), and the occasional establishing of a complicated trust account. Now that much of the transition process is over, Karyn can now use the skills she acquired to better assist you.

And as far as I am concerned, I am happy to say that it is my pleasure these days to work with you and to be able to see the fruits of our investment decisions over the past 12 to 18 months! I find that in general, “plusses” are much more satisfying than “minuses” and I’m happy to see more “plusses” as I review my client statements and accounts. I hope that you have found the letters and emails that I have sent to you over the recent past to be informative and useful in helping you form your investment perspectives; if so, I will happily continue to keep you apprised!

I am eager for you to see our new space soon – it’s Suite 905 at 1600 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington. Our phone, fax and email addresses will all remain the same. We look forward to serving your investment and planning needs in our new, larger space!
