Virtual Art TourLeonardo Nierman, MexicanLeonardo Nierman was born in Mexico City, educated at the University of Mexico and created his first major work in 1956 for the school. In 1951, he received his bachelors degree in physics and mathematics. He later studied the psychology of color and the harmony of form in space. Nierman enjoys international fame and his paintings can be found in over 300 major museums and private collections, including the Lincoln Center, New York; the Vatican Museum Collection; the Museum of Modern Art, D.F. Mexico; Museum of Modern Art, Haifa, Israel; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Contemporary Arts, Panama Republic de Panama; John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, National Symphony Orchestra, Eisenhower Theatre, Washington, D.C.; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia; Florida Gulf Coast Art Center, Inc., Clearwater, Fla.; Bogata Museum of Contemporary Art, Bogata, Columbia; Museum of Contemporary Art, Madrid; Museum of Arts & Sciences, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago; Columbia University, New York; and Konserthuset, Stockholm. "Eclipse" is one of a series of paintings Nierman painted from 1988 through 1990 under the same title. |
