Virtual Art TourWilliam C. Renc, American, born 1949In a 1993 Do-ers Profile interview for the St. Petersburg Times, Safety Harbor, FL, artist Bill Renc noted his proudest achievement as having had polio as a child, I was invited in 1988 to exhibit in a national show by artists who have suffered physical challenges, initiated by Jean Kennedy Smith. This and subsequent shows for artists with disabilities make it possible to use my art for increased awareness by the public about people with disabilities and how we can make a contribution to our culture. In 1993, Renc collaborated with St. Petersburg artist and fellow co-founder of the Professional Association of Visual Artists, Roger Bansemer, on the book Birds at the Waters Edge. As much of the subject matter for Renc's artwork is nature, he spends as much free time as possible observing the beauty of our natural Florida. I hope our future will provide healthy habitats of undisturbed wetlands for stable bird populations, he stated. To prevent the loss of any species requires awareness. What a tragedy it would be to have nothing left except pictures of what once was. Renc's biographical sketch listed his position as professional artist specializing in pencil studies, crayon and wash color drawings, and hand colored intaglio prints. A 1970 graduate of the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Renc's artwork is being shown and winning numerous awards in exhibitions throughout Florida, including the Disney Festival of the Masters. Renc is the owner of The Painted Fish Gallery, 350 Main Street, Dunedin, FL, 34698, 727/736-0934. |
