Assistant to the Chairman
Assistants to the Chairman work directly for Thomas A. James, Executive Chairman of Raymond James Financial, and alongside other senior leaders on strategic projects that impact the ongoing success of the company. In this summer intern role, individuals have the opportunity to learn from one of the most respected minds in the financial services industry and gain a top-down view of the firm’s diverse businesses including investment and financial planning, investment banking, asset management, and commercial banking. In addition, Assistants to the Chairman participate in the firm’s Board of Directors meetings, Operating Committee, and other senior-level management meetings.
In the past, Assistants to the Chairman have been responsible for leading a range of projects including: evaluating potential acquisitions, creating new investment products, developing firm strategy, identifying international opportunities, recommending improvements to existing lines of business, and implementing those recommendations. The responsibilities of the position are dynamic and evolve in response to the ever-changing market and competitive environments facing Raymond James. The program has a rich legacy at the firm, with previous participants reaching senior level positions throughout the company.
The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, team-oriented, and has a demonstrated history of success. Previous Assistants to the Chairman have come from diverse backgrounds including management consulting, investment banking, private equity, asset management, wealth management, corporate strategy, law, military, operations management, public accounting, and commercial and retail banking.

Investment Banking Associate
The ideal candidate will be an MBA with applicable investment banking and/or relevant industry experience and must possess demonstrated analytical skills. The position also demands a highly motivated, self-starting team player with exceptional critical thinking abilities, excellent communication skills and the ability to generate strong relationships.
The associate will be assigned to a specific industry or product specialty group (such as M&A Advisory or Restructuring and Recapitalization) within the Investment Banking department, based upon the department’s growth needs and the candidate’s experience. The associate will work with a team of professionals to meet the capital-raising and advisory needs of corporate clients. The reward system is performance-based and places emphasis on the associate’s ability to contribute to the profitability and overall success of his/her team and the department.

Equity Research Associate Analyst
The associate analyst will assist a senior analyst with research coverage in a specific industry group. The associate analyst’s responsibilities include researching and writing company reports, as well as communicating investment information and conducting special projects. In addition, associate analysts will work with their Investment Banking, Sales and Trading counterparts to form an integrated equity capital markets team serving the firm’s corporate and institutional clients.
The ideal candidate will be a first-year MBA with a solid foundation in finance/accounting and strong writing skills. Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated interest in the securities industry and experience in financial analysis.

Institutional Equity Sales Associate
The ideal candidate will be an MBA with applicable experience and a strong interest in finance and the securities industry. The position demands a highly motivated team player who demonstrates excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Most important, the ideal candidate must be successful at building and maintaining lasting business relationships.
An institutional equity sales associate prospects and develops relationships with institutional clients either alone or as part of a team. After gaining a full understanding of a client’s needs, the associate will be able to successfully market equity research to those clients. The associate will be responsible for properly qualifying prospects and for obtaining all necessary licenses.
