Associate Vice President, Investments
Jim has more than 32 years of experience in the financial services industry. He believes every client deserves a personal and comprehensive approach to developing and achieving their financial goals. Therefore, it is imperative that a financial advisor has the experience, knowledge and compassion for addressing each client’s needs.
His experiences in the venture capital and investment arenas, combined with his qualifications as a CPA* and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, provide Jim with a background that helps him better understand each individual’s overall financial situation. Seeing the complete picture of an individual’s financial life, combined with his exceptional financial knowledge, enables Jim to develop investment strategies and implement financial plans that are both comprehensive and personal.
Jim joined Raymond James in 2007 and joined our team in 2016. Earlier in his career, he managed multiple offices for Morgan Stanley, served as a financial advisor and coordinated equity offerings. He also held a management position and served as financial advisor at A.G. Edwards. Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colorado College and is a graduate of the Wharton School's investment consultant program.
Active in his community, Jim is a commissioner of the Northfield’s Zoning Board of Appeals, a past trustee of Northfield Community Church and a past chairman of the Village of Northfield Caucus. Originally from Minneapolis, Jim lives in Northfield, Illinois, with his wife, Kathleen. They are foodies who are constantly exploring new recipes, restaurants and specialty food stores. Kathleen is a professionally trained chef who tests recipes for America’s Test Kitchen and Cooks Illustrated.
Their favorite vacation spot is Charlevoix, Michigan, but they also explore cities such as Memphis, Nashville, Charleston and Savannah to seek out and experience the foods and restaurants indigenous to each area. On the international front, they have enjoyed frequent and memorable trips to Italy and France.
