David Castagna
Managing Director – Investment Banking
Co-Head, Technology Group
Mr. Castagna joined Raymond James & Associates in 2011. He brings more than 16 years of technology investment banking experience across multiple sectors. Prior to joining Raymond James & Associates, Mr. Castagna was co-head of the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) investment banking group at Piper Jaffray. He previously served as head of TMT investment banking at Cowen and Company and as head of technology investment banking at Thomas Weisel Partners. Mr. Castagna holds an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Brigham Young University.
Stefan Jansen
Managing Director – Investment Banking
Co-Head, Technology Group
Mr. Jansen joined Raymond James & Associates in 2001 after leading the communications and technology group at Wachovia Securities, Inc. (WSI). He previously served as head of mergers and acquisitions for WSI and Interstate/Johnson. Before joining WSI in 1996, Mr. Jansen worked with Citibank’s mergers and acquisitions group in Frankfurt, Germany, where he specialized in cross-border transactions involving multinational companies based primarily in North America and Europe. He previously worked with Commerzbank AG both in Frankfurt and Los Angeles in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance roles.
Mr. Jansen earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in business administration from the College of Charleston and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he was named a Fuqua Scholar.
Todd Speece
Managing Director

Equity Capital Markets/Syndicate
Mr. Speece is a Managing Director at Raymond James and leads the firm’s equity capital raising efforts for technology and energy technology companies from the Raymond James equity syndicate desk. His background includes over 14 years of experience advising technology companies across several sectors in IPOs, follow-on equity offerings, convertible debt offerings and private placements. Prior to joining Raymond James in July 2011, Mr. Speece was a key, senior member of the capital markets group at Piper Jaffray, where he helped build their technology and clean technology franchises. Earlier in his career, Mr. Speece worked for Norwest Equity Partners in its buyout fund and was a member of the technology banking team at Thomas Weisel Partners. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and an MBA from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business.
Bob Flanagan
Managing Director – Investment Banking

Mr. Flanagan joined Raymond James & Associates in 2011, and oversees the firm’s technology hardware banking practice with a particular focus on the semiconductor, electronic component and optical device industries. Mr. Flanagan has nearly 20 years of investment banking experience, and has been one of the most active bankers serving the semiconductor and optical networking sectors over the past decade. Prior to joining Raymond James & Associates, Mr. Flanagan managed Oppenheimer & Co’s Silicon Valley office as the firm’s senior technology banker on the west coast. He joined Oppenheimer via its purchase of a major part of the US capital markets business of CIBC World Markets, where he led the firm’s semiconductor industry banking practice. Previously, he was a senior technology banker at Cowen & Co. and Thomas Weisel Partners, and began his career in investment banking with Salomon Brothers Inc. Mr. Flanagan holds a BA in Economics from UCLA and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Jason Harkness

Mr. Harkness joined Raymond James & Associates during 2011 as a Managing Director in the Technology Investment Banking group, where he leads the Internet and digital media banking efforts for the team. Prior to joining Raymond James & Associates, Mr. Harkness spent over seven years at Pinnacle Ventures focusing primarily on Internet, digital media, software and mobile investments. He was part of the team that lead Pinnacle’s investments in BlueKai, BuyWithMe, Chegg, Diapers.com (acquired by Amazon.com), Farecast (acquired by Microsoft), Flixster (acquired by Warner Bros.), Gilt Groupe, H.BLOOM, Kabam, Lotame Solutions, Pandora Media (NYSE: P), Right Media (acquired by Yahoo!), StumbleUpon, ZING Systems (acquired by Dell) and Zipcar (NASDAQ: ZIP). Prior to Pinnacle Ventures, Jason was part of the technology investment banking team at Thomas Weisel Partners, where he focused on Internet, digital media, software and communications transactions. Additionally, Jason worked closely with Thomas Weisel Capital Partners making growth equity investments in Internet and software companies. Jason began his career in the audit and advisory group at Ernst & Young in San Francisco. Jason received his BSBA from the University of Arizona, graduating summa cum laude in finance and accounting, and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
John Kelley

Mr. Kelley, who joined Raymond James in 2007, has covered the enterprise software sector for more than a decade. He has advised on and executed public and private equity and equity-linked underwritings, syndicated bank and bond financings, leveraged buyouts, and buy- and sell-side mergers and acquisitions assignments. Prior to joining Raymond James, Mr. Kelley was the head of application software investment banking at Banc of America Securities.
Mr. Kelley holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School.
Robert A. Lockwood
Managing Director – Investment Banking

Mr. Lockwood joined Raymond James & Associates in 2009. Most recently, he was a Managing Director of Lane, Berry & Co. International, focusing on client development and deal execution. Prior to that, Mr. Lockwood was Managing Director and Head of Technology Investment Banking at First Albany Capital's Boston office. Mr. Lockwood spent the first half of his career in Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette’s (DLJ) Mergers & Acquisitions department executing transactions covering a broad range of industries including technology, consumer and industrial. He later joined the Technology Investment Banking Group. Mr. Lockwood received his bachelors of Arts, Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ryan Lund

Mr. Lund joined the Raymond James Technology Group in 1998 and focuses on enterprise and communications software companies as well as leading Raymond James’ E-Commerce software and Customer Interaction Management technology efforts. Mr. Lund has participated in more than 50 transactions, including significant work with traditional software and Software-as-a-Service businesses including strategic advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and capital raising, both public and private. Before joining Raymond James, Mr. Lund worked with Merrill Lynch & Co. Mr. Lund earned an A.B. degree, cum laude, in Economics from Harvard University.
Geoff Tobin

Mr. Tobin joined Raymond James & Associates in 2011. He has 14 years of technology investment banking experience, with expertise in the communications equipment, mobile, storage, computing, optical components, test and measurement and smart grid sectors. Prior to joining Raymond James & Associates, Mr. Tobin spent four years with Piper Jaffray & Co., where he was a Managing Director in the technology group and responsible for the firm’s investment banking activities in the communications equipment and enterprise systems sectors. Previously, he served eight years in the technology investment banking group at Thomas Weisel Partners LLC, and two years in the technology mergers and acquisitions group at Montgomery Securities. Mr. Tobin received a B.A. degree in Political Science from Colgate University.
M. Shane McDaniel

Mr. McDaniel joined Raymond James & Associates in 2011. He brings more than 14 years of M&A investment banking experience across multiple industries, most recently focusing on the Technology sector. Prior to joining Raymond James & Associates, Mr. McDaniel helped establish Metronome Partners, a middle market M&A advisory firm founded by the former co-heads of Piper Jaffray’s and Morgan Keegan’s M&A practices. He previously spent over five years with Piper Jaffray & Co., where he was a Vice President in the M&A Group. Previously, Mr. McDaniel spent over seven years working on mergers and acquisitions at Billow Butler & Company, a Chicago-based boutique M&A advisory firm, as well as with Citigroup’s Capital Strategies Group. Mr. McDaniel holds an MBA from University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from the University of Illinois.
