Despite Market Resilience, Considerable Downside Risks Remain

In the long term, the U.S. economy and financial markets are resilient, but the best short-term news may be that spring arrived safely and on time. Raymond James’ Chief Economist Scott Brown says that despite Federal Reserve fed funds rate cuts, liquidity assurance and unprecedented action in arranging the proposed buyout of Bear Stearns, there are still clear downside risks in the near-term outlook. In times like these, investors are advised to stick with their diversified portfolios, buy fixed income investments only for their inherent characteristics and look to global growth, Brown says in this edition of Professionally Speaking, hosted by Larry Pugliese.

For personalized advice on how you might want to view current economic trends as an opportunity, please contact a Raymond James financial advisor.
