Ted M. Tignor, CIMC®, AIF®
Managing Partner, First Landing Financial
Private Wealth Advisor & Branch Manager, RJFS
Ted launched his financial career in 2003 with Merrill Lynch’s Global Wealth Management division. There he served as a Certified Financial Manager and as a Senior Financial Advisor before becoming a founding member of First Landing Financial in 2009. Ted’s focus at First Landing is overseeing the firm’s Private Client Wealth Management division, as well as acting as the primary Investment Manager for those clients. Ted holds the Series 24 and acts as a Branch Manager. He has earned the Certified Investment Management ConsultantSM designation awarded by the Investment Management Consultants Association, as well as the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation, awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies. Other licenses he holds include the Series 7, Series 66, and life and health licenses.
A graduate of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, Ted holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration. In addition, Ted was awarded the Top 40 Under Forty award in Hampton Roads for 2010, a prestigious award honoring outstanding young business people in the Hampton Roads community.* In 2011, he was recognized by Hampton Roads Magazine in its selection of 2011 Five Star Wealth Managers of Hampton Roads. As a wealth manager, Ted has a simple goal: to help his clients maintain their security, continue their financial success, and build lasting legacies for their families. When it comes to wealth management, Ted believes client relationships must begin with the end in mind. His studies and experiences have led him to use the Advisory Process and to take a conservative, principled approach to investing, focusing on reason and discipline rather than the whims of the markets.
Ted is a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, where he lives with his wife, Lori, and their three children, Gracie, Benjamin and Abbie. He currently leads worship at the 9:30am Sunday morning Contemporary service at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church at the oceanfront. There he plays guitar, sings, and leads the Praise Band, as well as helps plan the 930 service with the Worship Planning Team and Pastors. He has also helped facilitate and participate in marriage enrichment classes, led Children’s Church, and participate in Family and Men's Ministries. For years, Ted served as Treasurer and President’s Council member for the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry, spoke at monthly "Look Behind the Walls" meetings that are held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility, volunteered and participated in the annual Rives King Charity Golf Tournament and assisted with the Annual Fundraising Banquet. Ted and Lori continue to support the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry financially.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing and writing music, surfing, reading about history and researching the Founding Fathers, playing golf, and most of all, spending time with his awesome wife and kids.
