What Is A Certified Financial Transitionist™?
A transitionsist is trained and skilled to manage change. A financial transitionist is trained and skilled to manage financial change. A Certified Financial Transitionist™ is an experienced professional who:
- has met initial entry requirements;
- has completed a two-year, 75-hour education program with experience-based assignments and passed written and oral certification exams;
- has demonstrated a high level of competency;
- adheres to The CFT Standard of Care, and commits to continuing education.
The CFT training and continuing education enables advisors to guide their clients through life transitions using the unique processes and tools created by the Sudden Money® Institute after over a decade of research, development and experience. It positions the CFT™ to use cutting edge research from neuroscience, physiology, sociology and psychology regarding the human experience of change.
We refer to our CFTs as "Thinking Partners," as they bring process and tools to the client-planner relationship that are not add-ons. Instead, they are intrinsic to the experience of guiding someone through a transition. The Thinking Partner's work is embodied; it's equal parts what they're doing and how they're doing it. And it requires far more listening, letting go of the seat of authority, and being comfortable with uncertainty. It's not for the average person and it's not easy work, but it's the most rewarding work all of us involved have ever done."
Turning a Windfall into Financial Security
At The Millstone Evans Group, we use the Sudden Money® program to assist clients who have suddenly acquired a large sum of money through inheritance, divorce, sale of a company or other reasons – even winning the lottery. The program's objective is to help you turn an unexpected windfall into lifetime financial security.
Sudden money, in any significant amount, is both a wonderful opportunity and a formidable responsibility and can change your life forever. Sudden Money® was developed to ensure that your windfall has the lasting impact you want and need by helping you manage not only the money itself, but the obligations and emotions that accompany it.
The Chute of Emotions
Sudden Money® often comes with baggage attached. You may be grieving the loss of a loved one, adjusting to the realities of leaving the work world and feeling uncertain about how to proceed. If so, we can help guide you during a temporary time-out from making major financial decisions.
The Decision-Free Zone
As experts on managing Sudden Money®, we know how helpful it is to prepare as thoroughly as possible before you make life-changing financial decisions. That's why it is so important to declare a "Decision-Free Zone" to give yourself the time and space to do your homework and, if necessary, to work through your emotions, before making high impact decisions.
The Bliss List and Reality Check
Picture your perfect world. Where would you be, and what would you be doing? We'll help you spend some of the time in your Decision-Free Zone putting these goals on paper and prioritizing them, not only by what they cost, but by what they mean to your happiness. Then, together, we can look at the financial reality and create strategies to realize your dreams.
Based on her experience working with hundreds people in similar situations and on the principles set forth in her book, Sudden Money, Managing a Financial Windfall, Susan Bradley has created the Sudden Money® program. Following this program, we will give you the guidance and skills you need to build "sudden money" into a lifetime of financial security.
