Darlene finds great fulfillment in helping people identify and pursue their goals, and has a genuine concern for her clients and their financial well-being. Her areas of expertise include financial planning, investment strategies, asset allocation, retirement planning, Social Security options and analysis, and insurance planning. She holds the professional designations of Wealth Management Specialist™ and Certified Estate PlannerTM, and holds Series 7, 66, life, health and variable annuity licenses.
Before joining Raymond James in 2002, Darlene already had a lengthy successful career in business in and around Grand Rapids. She worked at Amway Corporation for 18 years in a variety of roles, including Manager, Office of the President; Advisor, International PR & Government Affairs; Legal Department, Real Estate Services. She also served as NTR Manager at Regent Broadcasting and Director of Board Relations at National Heritage Academies.
Earlier in her career, Darlene held an administrative position at the Kent County Controller’s Office, and worked as an assistant to State Senator Jack Welborn. She earned an associate’s degree from Ferris State University and a bachelor’s degree from Davenport University in business administration.
Darlene has long been active in serving her community. She was recognized as “Volunteer of the Year” by the Grand Rapids chapter of the Executive Women’s Golf Association. She is a board member of the Children’s Assessment Center of Grand Rapids, and serves as chair of its nominating committee and a member of its facilities committee. Darlene also serves on the board of the West Michigan Women’s Foundation Advisory Council.
She has served as co-chair for the Women’s Resource Center “Wine, Women & Chocolate” fundraising event, as a board member of the Grand Rapids Opportunity for Women, vice president of marketing for American Business Women’s Association’s Grand Rapids chapter, event planner for Greater Grand Rapids Executive Women’s Golf Association, member of the Executive Committee of the Grand Action Committee of Grand Rapids, chair of the Lowell Youth Foundation, volunteer at the Kids Food Basket, and secretary of the board for the Pink Ball Charity Classic to benefit Rally for the Cure.
A native of Grand Rapids, Darlene lives in Ada, Michigan, with her husband, Carl. They have two grown children, Jacqueline (Adam) and Christopher (Tiffany), and five grandchildren, Reece, Ashlynn, Cora, Molly and Colton. In her free time, Darlene enjoys boating, swimming, golf, crafts, sewing, reading and spending time with her family.
