Wealth Management Process

Our Wealth Management Process is a Collaborative Endeavor

We devote our energy and expertise to helping you succeed financially – not by beating someone else’s benchmarks, but by meeting yours.

After all, the S&P 500 won’t help you retire. The buying power of your portfolio will.

Our Second Opinions Program is just that: a second look at a family or friend’s investment portfolio. Too often we see that investors may own portfolios that could be riskier than they think they are. Please contact us today to see what our Second Opinions can mean to you, your family and friends.

We work closely with clients and listen carefully. This is what we often hear:

  • “There are mixed and confusing messages from the financial media and so-called experts. I appreciate consistent intelligence and wisdom. That’s hard to find.”
  • “Too many financial advisors sold me proprietary products. Others followed the herd. Others are too inexperienced to understand the markets or my family history.”
  • “Granted, financial advisors know more than I do about investing and money. But I don’t want them to talk down to me. I appreciate being respected. I appreciate an enlightening, positive and relaxing experience.”

Did You Know?

Schmidt Wealth Management Group does not invest in proprietary products and has no agenda.

We work only for you. When you succeed, we do.

To build a mutually-beneficial relationship with you,
we immerse ourselves in the details of your life.

Understanding you, your family and/or business allows us to optimize our ability to serve you.

Like any financial advisory group, we ask questions of you.

But unlike others, we ask many questions of ourselves, including:

  • “How can a client enjoy the retirement lifestyle they describe, given a specific obstacle?”
  • “How can we prevent clients’ fears from getting the better of them, and get their eyes ‘off’ the markets?”
  • “Is there something we haven’t considered, outside of the investment realm – that can free up cash, better balance risk, or provide for a loved one?”

Did You Know?

Each month, we schedule a conference call with all clients, encouraging them to participate or just listen. Often, we have a guest speaker. We believe that each client’s experience is shaped by the wisdom, guidance and perspectives we share.

A Close-up Look at Our Process:

To bring you, our client, a sound and flexible plan for your future, “simplifying, streamlining and solving” are of paramount importance. We begin by identifying and prioritizing your objectives. Then, we implement an action-oriented, long-term strategy that remains flexible – taking the least risk possible.

What can we promise? That you’ll receive a seasoned perspective on the markets, solution-focused investing, and a superior level of personal service. Here’s what you can expect from “day one” – and for years to come:

  • Step 1 – Introductory Meeting

With full disclosure and transparency, we explain our compensation structure. An open, honest dialogue is a cornerstone of our commitment to you.

  • Step 2 – Information Gathering

To learn about you and your family, your concerns, circumstances, goals, and tolerance for risk, we eliminate financial jargon from our conversation. There’s no need for it. Instead, we aim to appreciate your perspectives on everything from retirement to debt, from your children to leaving a legacy. Everything’s “on the table,” with nothing “out of bounds.” To give special consideration to tax, retirement and estate investment planning issues, we gather relevant financial and tax documents.

  • Step 3 – Analysis and Evaluation

We determine if your current investments, spending and liabilities are appropriate to your situation and objectives. Next, we examine how to “transition” your current allocations in the most tax-efficient and cost-effective manner. Often, and upon request, we confirm recommendations with your legal and/or tax professionals. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions. That’s why we also provide monthly cash flow plans – what you spend is critical to what you save – and can invest.

  • Step 4 – Development and Presentation

Once your plan is formulated, we explain our recommended asset allocation and portfolio design. Our goal is to ensure your comfort with each detail.

  • Step 5 – Implementation

All necessary paperwork will be provided and explained to you. Each aspect of your personalized wealth management strategy and asset allocation will be covered. You’ll understand the transition of assets from other firms and the necessary timeline for implementing recommended allocations.

  • Step 6 – Review and Monitor Progress

Effective wealth management is not a one-time event. Our fluid process includes timely meetings – to discuss how investments are performing, whether performance aligns with goals we’ve established, and to discuss whether market conditions or personal circumstances require adjustments to your portfolio or cash flow plan.

Asset allocation does not guarantee a profit nor protect against loss.

Strong relationships are the foundation for understanding you and your success.

Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to create long-lasting relationships with many clients. We believe these lifelong bonds result from learning and listening to each other – and committing ourselves to serving each client’s goals, as circumstances change over time.
