David is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. The CFP® certification is one of the most respected financial planning credentials among consumers and the recognized standard of excellence in personal financial planning.

David also has extensive knowledge of retirement planning, estate planning, benefits planning, tax planning, investment management and insurance planning. He enjoys helping people address financial concerns and complexities, identify and pursue their goals, and leave a lasting legacy.

Prior to founding Southern Springs Capital Group, David worked at Merrill Lynch for two decades, most recently as a first vice president. In February 2009, David was named among the top advisors in Tennessee on the Barron's magazine list of America's Top Advisors State by State,* its first annual ranking of the top 1,000 financial advisors from across the country. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. Today David is a member of The Owen Circle, Owen’s donor society.

Originally from Springfield, Tennessee, David lives in Franklin with his wife, Karen, and their children, David, Jr., Brandon, Sydney and Bridget. David is a member of Brentwood Baptist Church, where he has served as a deacon since 2004. He also serves on the board of the Nashville Repertory Theater. David has completed nine marathons and enjoys playing golf and tennis in his free time.
