George Stillman, a native son of the Lompoc Valley, has been in the securities industry for more than 25 years. He left home in Lompoc in 1961, attending the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a degree in finance.

He then worked the next 30 years in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco, honing his business and financial management skills through experience ranging from working at the New York Stock Exchange to representing clients as a stockbroker to managing various private sector businesses and serving as a member of the executive management committee of one of California’s largest private corporations.

After returning to Lompoc, he and his wife, Anna, founded Stillman Capital Group in 1995. For the past 20 years, he has focused his investment expertise on the closed-end fund and exchange traded fund arena. George’s investment platform is best defined as tactical asset allocation.

His focus is building a portfolio to suit an individual client’s objectives and risk profile utilizing the vast array of vehicles now available in the exchange traded universe. In today’s investment climate, a firm commitment to risk management is at the forefront of his investment decision process.

George has been heavily involved in his community since his return to Lompoc in 1991. He is a past elected member of the Lompoc City Council, a past chairman of the Lompoc Mural Society, and an active member of the Lompoc Rotary Club.

George has always been a strong advocate of local charities and serves as the co-chairman of the Norma Stillman Memorial Golf Tournament for the benefit of the Boys & Girls Club and as a board member of the Viking Charities of Solvang.

He gives freely of his time, singing and guitar-playing to entertain and help raise funds for many local causes, ranging from the Santa Barbara Fiesta Rodeo to the Lompoc Library fundraising campaign and the Relay For Life annual cancer fund campaign. Additionally, Stillman Capital Group has established annual scholarships to the top male and female scholar athletes at Lompoc High School.

George’s interests outside the business world are focused on his horses, music and his golf game. He is a second-generation member of the Village Country Club, a member of The Santa Ynez Valley Penning Association, The Santa Barbara Trail Riders, El Viaje de Portola and a member of the Rancheros Visitadores.

He has been playing guitar and singing professionally for more than 30 years, and you will find him currently playing music for his riding clubs around the campfire, enjoying one of Santa Barbara County’s fine local wines.
