   Jim was born in Winchester, Virginia in 1946.  He attended Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia from 1964-66 on an athletic scholarship and received his degree in Business Administration/Accounting from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1968, a Masters of Divinity degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio and completed further studies in the MBA program offered by the University of Dayton.
 
    Following his graduation from United Theological Seminary, Jim spent 9-years in local parish ministries in Virginia and Ohio and was ordained in the Congregational Christian denomination in 1973.  He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Jane Early, in Pleasant Valley, Virginia in 1968.  She was instrumental in every facet of his career until losing a near 2-year battle with breast cancer on April 29, 2003.

    Jim has two children:  Renee L. Guerin, Acting Chief Financial Officer and Director of Marketing for The Granville Investment Group, Inc., and a principal in GS Benefit Solutions, Consulting and Insurance Agency, LLC; and Christopher J. Legg who competed on the PGA Developmental Tour and others before joining The Granville Investment Group as a junior portfolio management trainee.  Today he is pursuing a career in the medical field.  Both are married and Renee has two daughters- Amanda and Isabella.
 
    He was founder of Midwest Farm Mortgages, Inc. In 1976.  The company became the single most successful agricultural mortgage banking firm in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.  It originated and serviced more than $160 million in real estate collateralized loans for Mutual Benefit Life, Lincoln National, The Travelers, Aetna, John Hancock and others.  The activities of this firm spawned others offering a variety of services to the agricultural community- Midwest Farm Enterprises, Inc.,  Midwest Farm Leasing, Inc.,  Midwest Farm Realty, Inc., and Midwest Farm Advertising, Inc.
 
    Jim entered the investment industry in 1983 joining Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc. He endured the endless changes plaguing the industry as firm after firm changed its name or merged- Prescott, Ball & Turben, Kemper Securities Group, Inc., and Robert W. Baird & Company. Tiring of the endless change, he formed The Granville Investment Group, Inc., on  April 1, 1999 joining Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. as an independent contractor. 
 
    The Granville investment Group, Inc. consistently ranks in the top 10% of the more than 1,200 offices independently owned, operated and associated with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc.  He and his colleague, John P. Rossignol, CFP and EVP are annually recognized for distinguished service to their clients and fulfillment of the highest standards of performance by Raymond James Financial Services, Inc.
 
    Jim can be heard on “The Investor’s Edge”Saturdays at 9 a.m. on statewide radio.  This program has aired continuously on The Word 880AM WRFD in Columbus since September 1992.  The program is heard in 80 of the 88 counties in Ohio, and adjoining states and has been a part of the programming in the past on stations in Mount Vernon, Cincinnati, Newark, Lancaster, Pittsburgh and Chicago. 
  
    Jim is a Certified Member of Kingdom Advisors, a Granville Rotarian and a member of Jersey Baptist Church.  He and his wife, Gail, who is a Senior Mortgage Officer at the Columbus headquarters of Huntington National Bank reside in Dublin, Ohio.

John joined The Granville Investment Goup, Inc. as executive vice president  in August of 1999. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional.  Before joining The Granville Investment Group, Inc. he was the program director and a registered principal with Freedom Financial Center located at Park National Corporation in Newark, Ohio. At Park John managed the alternative investment program, a service of Essex National Securities. He has been serving Licking and surrounding counties for more than15 years providing personalized advice and strategies to meet the financial goals of area families and businesses.

John graduated cum laude from Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in management information systems. He has  completed the required course work and holds the widely recognized Certified Financial Planner™ certification, CFP^®.

Active in church and community, John is past president of the Newark-Heath Rotary Club and is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, past chairman of the Mayors' Prayer Breakfast, past chairman Licking County Food Pantry Network, past treasurer New-Ark Area Emmaus Community, past board member Center for Disabilities, and member Financial Planning Association. John resides in Newark with his wife, Tami, and their children, Adam and Sara. They are active members of the Newark Nazarene Church where John serves on the advisory board.

Roy A. Van Atta

Roy A. Van Atta joined The Granville Investment Group in 2008 after operating his family’s funeral business for more than 20 years. Roy has been a friend and a client of the firm for many years.

Roy is a 1985 graduate of Miami University with a BS in Finance and a 1987 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.  While leading the family business, he managed the day to day operations plus a staff of professionals who served more than 250 families per year. In addition to his funeral director’s license, Roy is a licensed Raymond James financial advisor and also holds an Ohio life & health insurance license. As part of our overall planning services, he is available to help anyone interested in funeral preplanning*.

Roy and his wife, Patti, both natives of Newark, have two adult children, Katie and Alex. They are active members of the Newark Church of the Nazarene where Roy is an active volunteer and a member of the worship team.  Roy is a past president of both the Licking County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Rotary Club of Newark-Heath where he is a Paul Harris Fellow. Roy is also a past Lay Director for the New-Ark Area Emmaus community.

Lynn joined the staff of the Granville Investment Group, Inc. as a Raymond James financial advisor in September 2004. Before joining the Granville Investment Group Inc., he retired after an 18-year career as a senior manager at Discover Card Financial Services located in New Albany, Ohio. Lynn initially had a career of a high school higher mathematics instructor, instructional coordinator and school treasurer.

Lynn graduated from Rio Grande College with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics with post-degree coursework in secondary education.

Active in his church and community, Lynn is a past church elder and church school board member. Lynn resides in Columbus with his wife, Sandy, and daughter, Adriane. Their son Ben has blessed Lynn and Sandy with four grandchildren: Brandon, Connor, Gracie and Jackson.

   Renee Legg-Guerin joined The Granville Investment Group on April 1, 1999 after working at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Department of Continuing Medical Education.  There she was the Conference Coordinator charged with organizing and planning all continuing education conferences, The Ohio State University Medical Center Valentine’s Gala for physicians and medical personnel, special events, health fairs, Doctors Day, women’s health events, clinics, open houses for physicians, and is a published writer in the Ohio State Journal of Medicine. 

   She was Assistant Editor to the Medical Director, Department of Communication and Marketing and Coordinator for the Department of Physician Relations.  
 
       Renee is a 1995 graduate of The Ohio State University, College of Medicine, School of Allied Medicine with a BS in Biomedical Communications.  She and her late mother, Susan, were the scriptwriters and producers of an in patient video for The Ohio State University Medical Center.

   Renee’s responsibilities at The Granville Investment Group, Inc include overseeing all the administrative personnel acting as the Office Manager; handles the financial affairs of the firm including accounts payable, taxes, interim and annual audits interfacing with the firm’s accounting and legal firms.  Her main responsibility is to work with the executive team in planing and executing an extensive marketing program.  These efforts have enabled the firm to grow more than 300% in the past decade while building an established presence on Ohio radio. 

   Renee is married to Eric, resides in Granville, and has two children- Amanda and Isabella.  Their family are members of the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Granville, and reside in Granville, Ohio.

Jennifer joined our staff as a client service coordinator in November 2005. She graduated from Central Ohio Technical College with a degree in Business Management. Before joining our staff, Jennifer operated and managed a local childcare facility.  There her responsibilities involved daily management of 13 employees and the operation of a facility housing 98 children.  During this time Jennifer worked very closely with state agencies to incorporate programs in the facility to better accommodate local families.

 As a client service coordinator, Jennifer oversees the day to day handling of client situations which would include but not be limited to answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments with potential clients as well as current clients and resolving a plethora of service issues acting as a liaison  between the client, the firm, external industry firms and Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. 

Jennifer meets with  new clients to open accounts, maintains the files for all clients, monitors documents in requirement with home office, maintains an extensive database and initiates and monitors transfers of assets under our management.   All initial client contact and requests are handled by Jennifer who works very closely with the executive team in all areas including overseeing audits with regulatory compliance.

 Jennifer resides in Newark with her husband, Allan and children, Lyndsey and Austin.  Jennifer and Allan have served as Youth Directors at Newark Nazarene church and coordinated church events including VBS.  Jennifer has also served on the PTA with her children’s schools.
