Jim attended Bridgewater College and received his degree in business administration/accounting from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Jim also has a masters in divinity from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio and further studies in business administration from the University of Dayton.
He was the founder of Midwest Farm Mortgages, Inc. in 1976. The company became the most successful agricultural mortgage banking firm in Ohio representing many major insurance companies including Mutual Benefit Life, Lincoln National, The Travelers, Aetna, John Hancock and others. The company spawned other firms including Midwest Farm Realty, Inc., Midwest Farm Advertising, Inc., Midwest Farm Leasing, Inc., and Midwest Farm Enterprises, Inc. However, he left those firms to pursue a new career in the investment industry in 1983 with Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc. and has endured the continuous changes in the industry through a succession of firms - Prescott, Ball & Turben, Kemper Securities Group, Inc., and Robert W. Baird & Company.
The Granville Investment Group, Inc., an Independent Firm, was founded on April 1, 1999. On this date he became independently associated with Raymond James Financial Services, based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The branch is one of the most successful offices of RJFS in the United States. Jim received special recognition for distinguished service to clients and fulfillment of the highest standards of performance in 2004, from the RJFS Leaders Council*.
Jim can be heard on “The Investor’s Edge” every Saturday and has been live on the air for 13 years on WRFD 880AM in Columbus and eighty of the counties in Ohio. He is a certified member of the Christian Financial Professionals Network (CFPN) and has been a member of the National Association of Christian Financial Consultants for the past five years.
Prior to his entry in the financial services industry, Jim spent nine years in local parish ministries in Virginia and Ohio and was ordained in the Congregational Christian denomination in 1972. Jim married Susan Early of Pleasant Valley, Virginia in 1968. She was instrumental in every aspect of his career but lost her 2 ½ year battle with breast cancer on April 29, 2003. He has two children-Renee L. Guerin, who is an officer of the Granville Investment Group and the Granville Planning Group, LLC and a son, Christopher who is employed at the Granville Investment Group, Inc.

John joined The Granville Investment Goup, Inc. as executive vice president in August of 1999. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. Before joining The Granville Investment Group, Inc. he was the program director and a registered principal with Freedom Financial Center located at Park National Corporation in Newark, Ohio. At Park John managed the alternative investment program, a service of Essex National Securities. He has been serving Licking and surrounding counties for more than15 years providing personalized advice and strategies to meet the financial goals of area families and businesses.
John graduated cum laude from Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in management information systems. He has completed the required course work and holds the widely recognized Certified Financial Planner™ certification, CFP®.
Active in church and community, John is past president of the Newark-Heath Rotary Club and is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, past chairman of the Mayors' Prayer Breakfast, past chairman Licking County Food Pantry Network, past treasurer New-Ark Area Emmaus Community, past board member Center for Disabilities, and member Financial Planning Association. John resides in Newark with his wife, Tami, and their children, Adam and Sara. They are active members of the Newark Nazarene Church where John serves on the advisory board.
Roy A. Van Atta joined The Granville Investment Group in 2008 after operating his family’s funeral business for more than 20 years. Roy has been a friend and a client of the firm for many years.
A 1985 graduate of Miami University with a BS in Finance and a 1987 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Roy brings a great deal of “real world” business experience to our team. While in the family business, he managed the day to day operations plus a staff of young professionals who served more than 250 families per year. In addition to his funeral director’s license, Roy is a licensed Raymond James financial advisor and also holds an Ohio life & health insurance license. As part of our overall planning services, he is also available as a consumer advocate to anyone interested in funeral preplanning*.
Roy and his wife, Patti, both natives of Newark, have two children, Katie and Alex. They are active members of the Newark Church of the Nazarene where Roy serves on the board, is an active volunteer with the youth program and plays the drums with the worship team. Roy is a past president of both the Licking County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Rotary club of Newark-Heath where he is a Paul Harris Fellow. Roy is also a past Lay Director for the New-Ark Area Emmaus community.

Lynn joined the staff of the Granville Investment Group, Inc. as a Raymond James financial advisor in September 2004. Before joining the Granville Investment Group Inc., he retired after an 18-year career as a senior manager at Discover Card Financial Services located in New Albany, Ohio. Lynn initially had a career of a high school higher mathematics instructor, instructional coordinator and school treasurer.
Lynn graduated from Rio Grande College with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics with post-degree coursework in secondary education.
Active in his church and community, Lynn is a past church elder and church school board member. Lynn resides in Columbus with his wife, Sandy, and daughter, Adriane. Their son Ben has blessed Lynn and Sandy with four grandchildren: Brandon, Connor, Gracie and Jackson.
Renee joined Grandville Investment Group as CFO and director of marketing in 1999 and is also senior vice president of our sister firm the Granville Planning Group, LLC. Before joining our staff, she graduated from the Ohio State University School of Medicine with a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical communications. Renee worked for the Ohio State University Medical Center for eight years providing medical education, marketing and public relations to physicians nationally. Renee and Eric will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary this year. Eric is the director of sales and Senior Account Manager with the Granville Planning Group, LLC. Renee and Eric reside in Newark with their daughter, Amanda, and are expecting their second child.
Jennifer joined our staff as client services coordinator in November 2005. She graduated from Central Ohio Technical College with a degree in business management. Jennifer spent four years as director of a local child care facility and now resides in Newark with her husband, Allan, and their two children, Lindsey and Austin.
