Mission StatementA good financial planner must stay current in a number of disciplines that impact his or her practice including communications, law, accounting, world affairs, securities and taxation. Since September 11, 2001 our office has published a detailed Quarterly Market Perspective. More often than not our work is multi-tasked, centering on the individual who may or may not own or manage his own business. Our advice must be sufficiently flexible to cover his various needs.
For the individual, we must listen, to learn his needs and objectives, to learn his capabilities and resources. We must organize and plan his individual accumulations to compliment his government benefits and what is made available in compensation, salary, and fringes from his employer, to provide efficiently for the present and for his future needs and retirement. At the same time we must also prepare to meet his or her family’s needs in the event of disability and to have his assets, his insurance and legal instrumentation in good order to provide for a quick and orderly succession in case of premature death.
For the businessman we must again first listen to find the personal and company needs and objectives, strengths and weaknesses, capabilities and resources. Primarily we’re involved with compensation planning.
Compensation planning means determining efficient insurance as a fringe benefit in case of employee health problems, disability, or death, appropriate design and investment for the retirement plan. We seek an appropriate balance of cost, tax efficiency, and asset protection for employer and employee.
Succession planning means determining what present ownership hopes to achieve for the next generation of company direction. The bare essentials for this type planning involve expertise in taxation and insurance, an emphasis on thorough planning and documentation. This is so whether the transition involves a sales transaction between seller and buyer, a gift transaction between generations or a combination of the two.
We are blessed with the education, training, and experience to handle these various transactions from several different professional perspectives.
* Please note, changes in tax laws may occur at any time and could have a substantial impact upon each person’s situation. While we are familiar with the tax provisions of the issues presented herein, as Financial Advisors of RJFS we are not qualified to render advice on tax or legal matters. You should discuss any tax or legal matters with the appropriate professional.
