Thomas Dedrick, CFP®, WMS
With in-depth knowledge that comes with more than 35 years of experience providing wealth management advice, Thomas Dedrick has helped clients navigate many types of market environments. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™* professional, he takes great care in creating comprehensive financial plans designed to help clients pursue what matters most in their lives. Building long-lasting relationships with clients based on mutual respect is second nature to him.
Thomas joined Raymond James in 2014 after a long and fruitful career at Merrill Lynch, where he was the most tenured advisor in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, office. He was drawn to the client-first culture of Raymond James because he views his clients as friends and extended family.
A graduate of Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Thomas was a standout football player during his days on campus before attempting a professional football career by signing with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. Thomas was inducted into his alma mater’s football hall of fame and was recently recognized by the college for distinguished achievements in business. He has continued his education, earning the CFP® certification and Wealth Management Specialist designation. He is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association and has been a National Football League Registered Player Financial Advisor.
Giving back to the community and helping others is a priority for Thomas. He has served on numerous boards in the Tuscaloosa area, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the United Way, Girl Scouts, the Tuscaloosa Transit Authority Board and the American Red Cross. He recently completed an 11½-year term with the Jacksonville State University board of trustees, where he served as the vice chairman of the board and as the chairman of the board’s athletic committee. Thomas currently serves as a deacon at his church and on the boards of his local chamber of commerce and Good Samaritan Clinic, he also belongs to the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and 100 Black Men of West Alabama.
Thomas was born in Tuscaloosa and grew up in nearby Sawyerville and has returned to his roots where he lives with his wife, Angelita. They have two adult sons and two granddaughters. When he’s away from the office, Thomas enjoys teaching Sunday school, spending time at his farm, hunting and fishing.
