Raymond James Investment Advisors Division welcomes a new team in Northville, Michigan

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Bill Van Law, president of Raymond James Investment Advisors Division (IAD) announced the affiliation of Great Lakes Wealth, an independent advisory firm based in Northville, Michigan. The team is led by managing partners Dewey D. Steffen, CEO, and Michael P. Hartman, COO. They are joined by Director of Operations and registered associate Carmela Eastin.

Before affiliating with Raymond James, the team was with UBS Financial Services where they managed approximately $150 million in client assets.

“We combine Wall Street solutions with Main Street values,” said Steffen, “And just like Raymond James, our clients are at the center of all we do. We offer goals-based financial planning, asset management solutions and client service. We build portfolios based on investor needs that have a conservative bias and that can deliver impactful results. We are confident that with the resources and support of Raymond James we will be able to continue to deliver superior client service in all areas.”

Steffen has more than 20 years of investment management experience, having begun his financial services career in 1995. He later served as vice president and retirement planning specialist at Citigroup Smith Barney before joining UBS in 2007, where he became a first vice president, investments and portfolio manager for the firm. In addition to completing a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan, Steffen earned a fellowship and studied at the Ludwig von Mises Institute of Economics on the campus of Auburn University. His main areas of focus include global financial management and comprehensive wealth management.

Hartman has more than 17 years of investment management experience having begun his career with Scottrade in 1998 in Alaska. Later, he served as a financial advisor with JP Morgan Chase and as vice president, investments and portfolio manager at UBS. He attended Michigan State University where he majored in finance. Hartman focuses on asset allocation and total portfolio management, while overseeing day-to-day operations.

Great Lakes Wealth offers a range of investment strategies that include safety and liquidity, income and longevity, and growth and legacy. The team has created seven outcome-based, proprietary investment models that are designed to pursue real life objectives.

“We take a more dynamic, proactive approach to portfolio management – one that is defined by the actual “outcome” each client is expecting to achieve,” said Hartman. “It involves our proprietary portfolio management process that actively rebalances the assets you hold in order to take advantage of market pricing anomalies or strong market sectors. In our view, this approach can create both short- and long-term investment opportunities, while reducing the amount of risk necessary to achieve the expected outcome.”

In addition to welcoming new clients, Great Lakes Wealth also offers opportunities for financial advisors who are committed to enhancing the financial well-being of the families and individuals they serve.

“Raymond James’ independent RIA model provides the independence and flexibility for advisors to serve their clients the way they know best, as well as help them attract other advisors and grow their firms,” said Van Law. “Dewey and Michael are experienced industry veterans who are truly dedicated to putting their clients first, and we are delighted they chose Raymond James to be their full-service custodial partner as they grow their practice.”
