Raymond James Recruits $700 Million Wells Fargo Team in Huntsville, Alabama

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James has recruited experienced financial advisors John Watts, Steuart Evans, Jr., Russell Henshaw and Bradford Flowers to Advisor Select, the independent-employee channel of Raymond James & Associates, the employee broker/dealer subsidiary of Raymond James Financial, Inc. (NYSE-RJF), according to Chris Davitt, CFA®, director of Advisor Select.

The team, which operates as Evans, Watts, Henshaw and Flowers Wealth Management Group of Raymond James, opened a new Advisor Select office in Huntsville, managed by Alabama Complex manager Michael Turnbough. They joined Raymond James Advisor Select Division from Wells Fargo Advisors’ Profit Formula platform, where they managed over $700 million in client assets and had approximately $3.8 million in annual revenue. The team also includes registered client service associates Celesta Freeman, Stephanie Akin and Deborah Mosley.

“What really attracted us to Raymond James, and in particular its Advisor Select channel,” said Managing Director of Investments Watts, “was first and foremost the culture of the firm and secondly the ability to be very independent and in control of how we run our practice, but with the full employee benefits and administrative, back-office support. We wanted a firm which was advisor-centric as well as client-focused; a firm which respected its advisors and trusted them to do the right thing for their clients.”

“We are also impressed with the very thorough research and due diligence conducted by the experts at Raymond James in asset management and mutual fund research. We believe we can now provide our clients with better and more varied investment solutions.”

Watts began his financial services career in 1988 with Morgan Keegan and had stints at Robinson-Humphrey and Prudential Securities before joining Wells Fargo in Huntsville in 2001. He is a cum laude graduate of Birmingham Southern College with a degree in business administration and biology. He attended college on a tennis scholarship and was named an Academic All-American.

Senior Vice President, Investments Evans began his financial services career with Robinson-Humphrey in 1991 where he joined his father in the business. In 2002, he moved to Salomon Smith Barney and in 2003 joined Wells Fargo where he teamed up with Watts. Evans is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in business management.

Senior Vice President, Investments Flowers began his financial advisory career in 1990 with Merrill Lynch. He moved to Prudential Securities in 2001 and then to Wells Fargo in 2003. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, and a master’s in finance from Creighton University.

First Vice President, Investments Henshaw started his financial career with Dean Witter Reynolds in 1996. He then spent nine years at Legg Mason followed by three at Smith Barney before joining Wells Fargo in 2009. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where he majored in political science and marketing.

“We are thrilled to welcome John, Brad, Steuart and Russ, and their entire team to the Raymond James family,” said Davitt. “Their desire to remain W-2 employees while creating their own independent practice and maintaining control of their entire branch experience makes them a great fit for our independent employee channel, Advisor Select. We always look to partner with advisors whose top priorities are oriented around their clients’ best interests; and Evans, Watts, Henshaw and Flowers Wealth Management Group embodies our client-first philosophy. We could not be more proud to have such a high quality team join us in the Huntsville market.”
