Raymond James Recruits $3.5 billion Team from UBS in Honolulu, Hawaii

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A large, very successful team of financial advisors based in Honolulu, Hawaii has joined Raymond James & Associates (RJA), according to Rick Sanchez, West Coast regional director for RJA – the firm’s traditional employee broker/dealer. They join the Honolulu branch managed by Larry Goeas and will be supported by Los Angeles Complex Manager Chris Horner.

The group, which operates as The Kikawa Group of Raymond James, comprises Managing Director Ronald Kikawa, Senior Vice Presidents, Investments Karen K.Y. Yasukawa, CIMA®, Gregg Matsuura, CIMA®, CRPS®, and Wesley K. Yamamoto, CFP®, CIMA®, First Vice Presidents, Investments Susanne M. Millard, CIMA®, CAIA®, CRPS®, and Paul Yamashita, CRPS®, CFA®. The team also includes Senior Financial Planning Consultant Kelly Kimura, Senior Investment/Portfolio Analyst Reid Kobashigawa, Registered Client Service Associate Ashley Caneso and Client Service Associate Lindsay Kikawa Yoshiki. At UBS, the team collectively managed client assets of over $3.5 billion and had in excess of $5 million in annual fees and commissions.

Kikawa started his financial services career in 1976 with E.F. Hutton in Honolulu. In 1988, he moved to Kemper Securities and when they closed, joined Smith Barney in 1996. In 2007, he moved to UBS. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hawaii in business administration and also studied at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco. In 1989, he attained the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. 

Yasukawa has over 30 years’ experience in the industry having begun her career with Aetna Financial Services in 1986. She partnered with Kikawa at Kemper Securities in 1994 and they remained a team at Smith Barney and UBS until joining Raymond James. She serves as the primary consultant to a variety of the team’s institutional clients and is the principal consultant responsible for helping clients develop and implement defined contribution programs. She earned the CIMA® designation in 2002 and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation in 2015. She is a distinguished English literature graduate of the University of Hawaii.

Matsuura began his financial services career in 2000 with Smith Barney where he teamed up with Kikawa and Yasukawa, then moved with them to UBS in 2007. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Hawaii-Manoa, and an MBA and Master of Real Estate Development degrees from the University of Southern California. He also has the CIMA® designation and is a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist℠.

Yamamoto began his financial services career with Prudential Securities in 1996, spent 15 years with Wells Fargo and then joined the team at UBS in 2010. Prior to entering the investments field, Yamamoto was in the consulting business with Coopers & Lybrand in Honolulu, the Ralph M. Parsons Corporation in Saudi Arabia and ran his own manufacturing company in Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated from the University of Hawaii with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and holds the CIMA® designation.

Millard has almost 30 years of financial services experience having begun her career with Merrill Lynch in 1978, joining Smith Barney in 2005 and moving with the team to UBS in 2007. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado College and has a Master of Science degree in finance from the University of Colorado. Additionally, she has the CIMA® designation, is a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist℠ and earned the Alternative Investment Certificate from IMCA®. In 2006, she was awarded the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst™ designation. 

Yamashita has nearly 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry having begun his career as an auditor at Union Bank of California (Los Angeles). He then worked for Ernst & Young in Frankfurt, Germany, and Honolulu, before joining the Treasury department of Bank of Hawaii and later American Savings Bank. He joined the team at UBS in 2008. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder, a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist℠ as well as a CPA®.
