Raymond James Recruits Two Advisor Teams Managing Over $330 Million in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. ─ Raymond James recently welcomed Senior Vice President of Investments W. Bowen McRae Jr., J.D., CRPC®, Senior Vice President, Investments Roger Sullivan, Th.D., and Financial Advisor Kyle Hawthorne to the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, office of Raymond James & Associates (RJA) – the firm’s traditional employee broker/dealer – according to South Louisiana Complex Manager Jude Huval.

McRae joined Raymond James from Wells Fargo Advisors where he managed close to $200 million in client assets. Transitioning with him from Wells Fargo is Senior Client Service Associate Shirley Cook. The team operates as McRae Wealth Management of Raymond James.

“The most important factor in my decision to join Raymond James was its reputation for putting clients’ interests first and its respect for the advisor-client relationship. We are nothing without our clients – and in the short time I have been here I realize that “Client-First” is not just a slogan but a genuine cultural value. Add to that, the very client-friendly technology and depth of resources available to us, and I could not be happier with the move.”

Sullivan and Hawthorne also came to Raymond James from Wells Fargo Advisors, where they managed approximately $145 million in client assets with over $800,000 in production. Joining them is their long-time Registered Client Service Associate Meg Martinez. They operate as Sullivan & Hawthorne Wealth Management of Raymond James. Both teams will be supported in their practice by Branch Manager Tommy Hyde.

“Our aim is to preserve, grow, utilize and pass on assets simply, effectively and according to the wishes and needs of our clients,” said Sullivan. “When I visited the Raymond James home office, it reminded of my early days at A.G. Edwards – a place where clients come first, and where advisors can serve whomever they want as clients, with no minimum account sizes or increasing fees to discourage small savers. And we were also pleasantly surprised to find several new investment opportunities as well as all the services and technology support we need.”

McRae began his financial services career in 2007 with A.G. Edwards, which subsequently became Wells Fargo. Prior to that, he spent 10 years practicing law in Baton Rouge. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor‘s degree in business administration and from the University of Mississippi Law School with a Juris Doctorate. He is also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor.

Sullivan began his financial services career in 2000 with A.G. Edwards after having spent five years as a hospital pharmacist and 22 years as a minister. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Louisiana State University, a B.S. degree in pharmacy from Northeast Louisiana University and a master of divinity degree in biblical studies as well as a doctorate in theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Hawthorne began his financial services career in 2014 with Wells Fargo following a six-year career as a successful lawyer. He will be participating in the Raymond James Advisor Mastery Program to further develop his advisor training and education. He has a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern University Law Center.

“We are delighted to welcome Bowen and Shirley, as well as Roger, Kyle and Meg to Raymond James,” said Huval. “They each run impressive practices but, more importantly, are client-first advisors – so will be a great addition to the Baton Rouge complex as we continue to grow our presence in this important market.”
