Alex. Brown Continues Growth in the West, Recruits $200 Million Advisor from UBS in Los Angeles
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Alex. Brown, a division of Raymond James, recruited client advisor Andrew Hutcheson in Los Angeles, according to John Davis, Coastal regional director for Alex. Brown. Hutcheson joins from UBS, where he managed $200 million in client assets and had $1.2 million in annual production.
“Expanding in the West continues to be an important focus for Alex. Brown and Raymond James,” said Davis. “Alex. Brown’s rich history in the area, particularly in California, continues to attract accomplished and talented advisors in our industry. We’re pleased to offer exceptional and experienced advisors like Andrew the optimal levels of freedom and support that they need to best serve their clients and grow their business.”
Hutcheson, experienced in non-qualified deferred compensation and executive benefits, previously served as a senior retirement plan consultant and senior portfolio manager at UBS. Prior to UBS, he was a partner at Edward Jones Investments, where he was the performance leader for the western region and led their Retirement Plan business. Joining him at Alex. Brown is investment associate Audra Benge.
“Alex. Brown and Raymond James provide a great deal of resources and support, but among the most unique aspects is the fact that they pledge that you own your book of business. In today’s environment, that’s empowering for advisors,” said Hutcheson. “I also liked the idea of working with a company that owns a bank, rather than a bank that owns a wealth management company.
“What initially attracted me to Alex. Brown, specifically, was the rich history – both nationally and locally. After talking with Haig Ariyan, Alex. Brown’s president, and members of the management team and the local office, I got a better sense of how Alex. Brown’s platform would be the best fit for helping me grow in my specialty of defined contributions, 401(k)s and foundations. The freedom of managing my book of business, coupled with the support for my business, cemented my decision to make the move.”
“I’m excited to welcome Andrew to Alex. Brown here in Los Angeles,” said Gary Cohen, regional executive and branch manager of Alex. Brown’s Los Angeles office. “His experience is unique, and we’re looking forward to providing the support he needs to continue growing his practice in this important market.”
