Raymond James announces $990 million advisor team in Bethesda, Maryland

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James welcomed financial advisors Arun Sardana, CIMA®, Adam Proger, CFA®, CIMA®, Paul Grambsch and Reilly Loflin, CFA®, CIMA®, to Raymond James & Associates (RJA) – the firm’s employee advisor broker/dealer – in Bethesda, Maryland, according to Tom Walrond, Eastern division director for RJA.

The advisors join Raymond James from UBS, where they previously managed approximately $990 million in client assets and $1.6 billion in assets under advisement. The team operates as SPG Fiduciary Partners of Raymond James and will be located in the Bethesda office, which is a part of the Chesapeake Complex managed by Warren Wright.

“In order to provide prudent investment advice to sophisticated institutional clients like the nonprofit organizations we serve as an acknowledged fiduciary in writing, we needed flexibility, independence, complete transparency and enhanced resources,” said Sardana. “Raymond James was the only organization that gave us this platform – not just for today but for years to come.”

Sardana, managing director, wealth management and senior institutional consultant, has been in the financial services industry for 25 years. Prior to joining Raymond James, he was one of approximately 28 senior institutional consultants in the UBS Institutional Consulting Group, which he joined in 2008. Sardana has an MBA from Johns Hopkins University, earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation in 2004 – awarded by the Investment Management Consultants Association – and taught at The Wharton School. Additionally, Sardana is an industry leader and was named to the Barron’s Top 1,200 Advisors list for 2018.

Proger, vice president, wealth management institutional consultant, has been licensed for over 14 years. He was a member of the UBS Institutional Consulting Advisory Council, a group of 12 institutional consultants from around the country that helped advise the firm on all aspects of the institutional business. Proger graduated from the University of Maryland, earned a CIMA® designation in 2009 from the Investment Management Consultants Association, and taught at The Wharton School. In addition to holding the CIMA® designation, Proger is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) charterholder.

Grambsch started his professional career as a pit trader at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, which led to a position as a grain trader with Germany-based trading house A.C. Toepfer. Before joining Raymond James, he was a financial advisor with UBS since 2006 and holds the Series 7 and 66 licenses. He earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Minnesota and attended the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University, where he focused on international trade and finance.

Prior to joining Raymond James, Loflin was an institutional analyst with the Institutional Consulting team at UBS since 2014. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and holds Series 7 and 66 licenses. Loflin earned the CFA® designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Washington. He holds the CIMA® designation, awarded by the Investments & Wealth Institute.

“The entire SPG Fiduciary Partners of Raymond James group is a wonderful addition to the firm,” said Walrond. “They are an outstanding team with decades of industry experience, and provide seamless fiduciary financial leadership to foundations, associations and ultra-high-net-worth families. We are proud to have them representing us in the Maryland market.”

The rankings are based on data provided by over 4,000 individual advisors and their firms and include qualitative and quantitative criteria. Data points that relate to quality of practice include professionals with a minimum of seven years financial services experience, acceptable compliance records (no criminal U4 issues), client retention reports, charitable and philanthropic work, quality of practice, designations held, offering services beyond investments offered including estates and trusts, and more. Financial advisors are quantitatively rated based on varying types of revenues produced and assets under management by the financial professional, with weightings associated for each. Investment performance is not an explicit component because not all advisors have audited results and because performance figures often are influenced more by clients’ risk tolerance than by an advisor’s investment picking abilities. The ranking may not be representative of any one client’s experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of advisor’s future performance.
