Raymond James continues western expansion with $206 million advisor team in San Diego, California
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James welcomed Gary Wardein, CIMA®*, senior vice president, wealth management, to Raymond James & Associates (RJA) – the firm’s advisor broker/dealer – in San Diego, California, according to Pat Allison, Western division director for RJA.
Wardein joins RJA in our Rancho Bernardo office from Merrill Lynch, where he previously managed $206 million in client assets. Joining Wardein is his daughter, Erin Bethge, CFP®**, financial advisor. Together, the two operate as Wardein Wealth Management of Raymond James.
“What caught our attention is Raymond James’ dedication to its clients,” said Wardein. “Each individual we’ve interacted with at the firm truly believes in the firm’s client-first vision and core values. It was important to us to find a firm that had a strong culture and dedication to our value proposition of helping clients to reach their financial goals.”
Wardein has 41 years of financial services experience, beginning his work in the industry with Merrill Lynch in 1978. He and Bethge run their practice as father and daughter, serving families with a highly personalized, holistic approach to help meet their needs and long-term goals. Outside the office, Wardein enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and spending time with his wife, three children and seven grandchildren.
“We loved that Raymond James had a strong, family-based company culture with a client-centric focus,” said Bethge. “When looking for a firm, I prioritized growth, both for my clients and myself professionally. Raymond James provides a great cultural fit and is somewhere I envision my career long-term. I look forward to leveraging the resources at the firm as we continue to grow our practice.”
Bethge has been in the financial industry for four years, after her past career as director of student services at the University of Phoenix. She is a graduate of Arizona State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in sociology, as well as the University of Phoenix, where she earned her Master of Business Administration. Outside of work, Bethge enjoys spending time with her husband and three children and serving as a board member for the Poway American Little League.
“We are delighted to welcome Gary and Erin to the firm,” said Allison. “I am proud that the resources and client-centric culture offered by Raymond James continue to be a deciding factor for strong advisor teams like this one.”
