Raymond James welcomes financial advisor group managing over $630 million in client assets

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James welcomed financial advisors Steelman Ketchum, Shawn Roberts, Mark Sullivan and Michael Schulz to Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS) – the firm’s independent advisor channel – in Columbia, South Carolina, according to Todd Gartrell, Southeast division director for RJFS.

Together as Vision Wealth Advisors, the team provides wealth management and planning services to a range of clients including business owners, corporate executives, retirees, families and family offices. They were previously affiliated with Wells Fargo where they collectively managed over $630 million in client assets.

“We wanted a strong partner with an excellent reputation when it came to ethics and execution,” said Ketchum. “Raymond James stood out because it was very clear that it would never put us in a position to compromise the relationship we have with our clients.”

Ketchum offers extensive industry experience, having launched his career as a financial advisor at John Hancock in 1996. He has spent the last 20 years at Wells Fargo where he was the Managing Director of Investments. Ketchum is a graduate of the College of Charleston.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to provide more specialized and focused service to our clients. Raymond James provides us with direct access to industry-recognized research and solutions to support just that,” said Roberts.

For more than a decade, Roberts has served clients as a financial advisor at Wells Fargo. Previously, he worked as a regional private banker at Wells Fargo Bank and began his career as a clinical operations specialist at HealthStat, Inc. Roberts attended the University of South Carolina and also the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where he studied systems design engineering.

“Raymond James is a firm grounded in our core fundamental values of trust and respect,” Sullivan says. “Its culture of independence gives us complete freedom to make objective recommendations based solely on the best interest of our clients.”

Before joining Raymond James, Sullivan was a senior financial advisor and managing director of investments at Wells Fargo, where he worked for 21 years. He was named a 2021 Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisor, marking the third consecutive year he received the honor. Sullivan holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree from Wofford College.

“Raymond James stood out to us for its trust and integrity, as well as knowing that it can provide full-service offerings equal to those of a Wall Street firm. Our clients can enjoy the accountability and personal guidance that comes from being with one of the largest wealth management-focused and service-focused financial services firms in the country,” said Schulz.

Schulz’s career spans more than 20 years. Previously, he was a financial advisor with Wells Fargo, where he first began working with Sullivan. Earlier, Schulz was a private banker at Wells Fargo Bank and a financial specialist with Wachovia Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

“I’m pleased to welcome the talented team at Vision Wealth Advisors to Raymond James. We are proud that advisors, particularly ensemble teams, continue to recognize the firm’s unique offering in the industry,” said Gartrell. “We aim to provide a high degree of flexibility to run their business, coupled with robust support and resources to focus on elevating their client experience, service and offerings.”

Vision Wealth Advisors is also affiliated with Concurrent Advisors, an advisor-owned partnership of independent practices aligned with Raymond James Financial Services.

The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years of experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 32,725 nominations, more than 5,000 advisors received the award. This ranking is not indicative of an advisor’s future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients’ experience.
