7 tips to boost your LinkedIn presence

Whether you are just getting started on LinkedIn or need to update a LinkedIn profile from the past, it’s important to take the time to set up a complete profile. Below are some tips to get you started:

  1. Add in a background photo that associates with your brand or your branch.
  2. Create a descriptive and compelling headline.
  3. Use a professional headshot. Your LinkedIn profile is seven times more likely to get viewed if you have a profile picture. And be sure to use the same photo and professional title in all your publicly viewable communications, like your website, other social media accounts and printed materials. Be consistent!
  4. Drive traffic to your website. Select “other” in the dropdown menu to type in the title of your website.
  5. Personalize the URL for your LinkedIn profile. To make it easy for others to find your page, it is recommended that you use your name.
  6. Create a summary about your role and why that matters to your clients. Use keywords and terms you think prospective clients might search for if they’re considering a new advisor.
  7. Be visible. Make sure your profile is not set as private.
