Many clients, a single focus: retirement

The clients we serve cover a cross-section of industries, occupations and ages. Some are already retired, while others are working toward retirement. Some own businesses and want company retirement plans. Some are educators who want our expertise with the Indiana State Teachers’ Retirement Fund. Others are farmers who want to look beyond just banks for their investment opportunities.

What they all have in common is the universal goal of preparing for retirement and having the sustainable monthly income they need to enjoy it.

Retirees & Pre-Retirees

As you approach your retirement date, there are many things to consider. Do you know how much monthly income you’ll need? Do you know where this money will come from? If you own a business, do you have an exit strategy in place?

We’ll not only help you address every detail, but also help you see the big picture – your needs and wants, your assets and liabilities. We can help address all these issues as well as other important considerations such as maximizing Social Security benefits and protecting your investments and your family by having an estate plan, life insurance and long-term care insurance.

Because people are living longer today, the possibility of going 30 years without a paycheck takes careful retirement income planning and disciplined investing. We can create a plan for sustainable monthly withdrawals* from your investment portfolio designed to help make your money last your lifetime.

In the early stage of your retirement, expenses may rise as you take advantage of the time and opportunity to explore new hobbies and interests. Later in retirement, your expenses may lessen as your pace begins to slow – only to increase again later as healthcare needs arise.

We will regularly review your retirement to make sure it reflects changes in your personal life and remains aligned with your goals and wishes. We can also assist you with important matters such as making required minimum distributions, account titling and beneficiaries and charitable giving.

* Withdrawal amounts may vary subject to market fluctuations and value of portfolio.

Our mission is to serve as your family’s financial advisors for life, handling all matters related to managing and preserving your investments, and building a legacy – so you have the freedom to focus on things in life that matter to you most.

We help families address the many financial matters they face, such as balancing the needs of today with the goals of the future. There are college educations to be planned for and insurance plans to be made for protecting your family from the unexpected. Whatever the need, we’ll be here for you as your family grows and evolves into future generations.

In addition, many families we serve are highly interested in leaving a legacy. We can help you create a charitable giving plan that not only helps the organizations you're passionate about, but also has the potential to generate personal tax benefits and further your overall wealth management plan.

Institutional Investing

Annette Alexander holds the designation of Investment Management Consultant and is a member of the Institute of Investment Management Consulting (IIMC) at Raymond James. The IIMC curriculum provides her with advanced knowledge and concepts commensurate with many high-level institutional money management consultants, including asset allocation, manager selection and portfolio construction.

Nonprofit foundations & endowments

Foundations and endowments come to us for insightful financial guidance so they can continue to focus on their purposeful missions. We help them have a well-defined plan, beginning with an Investment Policy Statement designed to bring continuity to the decision-making even as committee members and fiduciaries change.

We employ a conservative investment approach to pursue their objectives for careful growth and asset preservation. We also address other important needs, such as cash flow management, risk management and tax liability. Our team collaborates with their directors, board members and other professional advisors such as trustees, attorneys and CPAs to monitor expenses and adhere to a fiduciary standard of care.

We assist city, county and state municipalities by providing financial consultation for their employee and executive benefit programs, and discussing fiduciary responsibilities and industry best practices. We can offer guidance on 457 plans, defined benefit plans, trust funds, investment committee consulting, employee education and executive services.

Public schools, churches and other tax-exempt organizations

We assist employees of public schools, tax-exempt organizations and ministers with 403(b) plans. Individual accounts in a 403(b) plan can be any of the following types – an annuity contract, which is provided through an insurance company; a custodial account, which is invested in mutual funds; or a retirement income account set up for church employees.

Company retirement plans

A company retirement plan is an ideal way for businesses to attract and retain quality employees, as well as help its owners plan and prepare for their own retirements. It can build morale and loyalty within your company, and reduce employee turnover.

We can help you establish, manage and run the plan that is right for you and your company. We’ll also help you understand and address your fiduciary responsibilities as a plan sponsor, and help educate your employees about the benefits and procedures. We are familiar with a wide range of qualified retirement plans and nonqualified deferred compensation plans:

  • 401(k) plans
  • 401(k) profit sharing plans
  • Safe-harbor 401(k) plans
  • Owner only/one-person 401(k) plans
  • Simplified employee pensions (SEPs)
  • SIMPLE (Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees) IRAs
  • Defined contribution plans
  • Defined benefit plans
