While finishing his undergraduate degree from Walsh College in 1993, Shane was fortunate enough to serve a bank president lunch while waiting tables at Bill Knapp’s in Troy, Michigan. After the meal was done, he handed Shane his business card and told him he should come over and apply at the bank. Since his area of study was finance, Shane took advantage of this opportunity and was hired at Huntington Banks of Michigan as a teller. Little did he know that this would launch his career and that he would end up forming Lakeshore Financial Group shortly after leaving the banking industry in 1998.
Shane believes his to be the greatest job in the world. Every day he feels blessed to be able to help families set a course toward their own unique objectives. The team’s diverse talent allows him to focus on the retirement goals of clients, with these particular objectives in mind: retirement income planning, wealth preservation, wealth management and ultimately, wealth transfer. His goal is to build a relationship of trust, communication and competence with each and every one of his clients.
Shane and his wife, Laurey, have been married since June of 1990, and moved to Holland in 1994 shortly after their first son was born. The couple wanted to raise their family in a small community and, with family nearby, Holland was the perfect fit. Since that time they have grown from a family of three to a family of eight, including children Zachary, Spencer, Juliette, Sophia, Schaeffer and Ruslan. They also have two dogs, two cats, a guinea pig, a lizard – plus whatever else the kids might have brought in from the woods!
Before joining Raymond James, Shane was an investment advisor representative and general securities representative at Commonwealth Financial Network. He is a Retirement Income Certified Professional and holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation, as well as Series 6, 7, 63, 65 and life and health insurance licenses.
