John Phelan has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has served clients as their trusted financial adviser since 1993 when he started with Smith Barney eventually serving as Branch Manager. John has been with Raymond James and its predecessor firm, Morgan Keegan since 2005. Prior to his career as a Registered Investment Advisor Representative, he was in management with Wachovia Bank. John is a graduate of Augusta University with a BBA in Finance and Economics and holds the Series 7, 8, 65, 63 and life and health licenses.

John also has earned the Certified Financial Planner certification after a rigorous study program, testing, and background check process. CFP’s are held to a higher fiduciary and ethical standards to ensure recommendations are in the best interest of the client. For his clients to be truly successful financially, he believes in a holistic planning process that covers more than just investment advice. This includes estate, retirement, tax and liability planning. John ultimately wants his clients to achieve financial independence so they are more confident about money and spend more time with their loved ones.

John is active in the community and philanthropy. Among the many causes he has served, he is the former board Chair of Child Enrichment and past president of the Richmond County Exchange Club. John is currently the Board Chair of Westminster Schools of Augusta and an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. John and his wife, Becca, live in Augusta and have two children Jack and Meggie.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner,  CFP Logo Flame Design and  CFP Logo Plaque Design in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
