Raymond James was proud to be the lead sponsor for the inaugural University of North Florida's (UNF) Women’s Financial Planning Symposium. The event was designed as a developmental and networking opportunity for students with industry-leading professionals conducting workshops on topics like Leveraging Emotional Intelligence, Crafting an Elevator Pitch and Building Your Personal Brand.
The purpose of the event was for women to learn how they are uniquely positioned for careers in advising and how UNF’s Financial Planning major can help them achieve that path.
The event was a collaboration with Dr. Oliver Schnusenberg, CFP®, Director of UNF’s Financial Planning program, and a number of national and local advisory firms including Capital Analysts of Jacksonville, Hylant and First Command.
Tash Elwyn, President of our Private Client Group at Raymond James, said, “I love to see people from our profession stand shoulder-to-shoulder on a campus to demonstrate that we truly value what they would bring. That unified message is much louder, stronger and clearer.”
The students felt the same.
UNF student, Edwige Nicholas, said, “This was an awesome and insightful event. The speakers were inspiring and very down to earth. I hope that some of the women that spoke will mentor me, and I even made a few personal connections with the women in the room; which is great for networking! I would never have been able to do any of this without this symposium.”
It was an inspiring event and we are excited to expand it to more schools and sponsor organizations next year.
