Jim transitioned from Charles Schwab to join Carlyon-Stoops Family Financial Planning in 2015, and oversees our team’s financial planning process, investment management philosophy and tactical execution. Through regular client strategy meetings and various forms of client communication, he has a multigenerational approach to financial planning and pursues a deeper understanding of his client’s values, motivations and financial behaviors with care and patience. He represented Schwab in the greater Chicago area, appearing on Fox and NBC Chicago TV news, CBS Chicago radio and contributing to articles published in the Chicago Tribune, Bloomberg Businessweek magazine and Money magazine.
Prior to becoming a financial consultant in 2004, Jim played professional baseball for various teams and he witnessed the poor financial decisions high-net-worth athletes routinely make. This 10-year experience inspired his passion for helping high-net-worth families implement a long-term approach to wealth management.

He is married with two sons and enjoys basketball, golf, coaching his son's sports teams, volunteering with his family and being involved in community organizations.
