Tim Solt joined Columbus Capital as a Financial Advisor in the Spring of 2023 following a unique and non-traditional journey that included 38 years at Wilson, Shannon, & Snow, Inc, (WSS) a large local CPA firm headquartered in Newark, Ohio. As a Vice President and Senior Shareholder WSS, Tim was very involved in the administration of the accounting firm, and at times served on the Firm’s Executive, Personal, Marketing, Insurance and Succession Planning Committees.
In addition to the administrative duties, Tim also served approximately 200 clients. His experience included high net worth investors, small business owners, trusts, professionals, investors, and non-profit organizations. He spent decades addressing complex situations, whether it was tax or estate planning, small business consulting, succession planning, tax preparation, insurance planning, or some other need. Because of the needs of his clients and a life-long desire to be a financial advisor, Tim obtained his Series 7, Series 63 and Insurance licenses and founded WSS Financial Services, Ltd (WSSFS) with a founding shareholder of WSS in 2001. In 2016, Tim became the sole owner of WSSFS.
Several years ago, Tim felt it was time to regain a better “work/life” balance and announced his planned retirement from WSS, effective December, 2022. Tim used his experience to create and implement a succession plan that included reaching Jim Atkinson, Founder and Managing Director of Columbus Capital. Tim did not intend to start a new career, but to find a home for his financial service clients. Jim and Tim share a similar investment outlook and client comes first approach. Now, Tim is fulfilling his dream of becoming a full-time financial advisor. His experience is essential in building client confidence and having the impact to change their lives.
Tim and his wife Jan live in Harrison Township in Licking County. Jan is also thrilled that she can now see her husband more than a few hours a week during tax season. With his new work /life balance, Tim and Jan are now able to travel more, become more involved in their Church, and pursue their life’s dreams.
