James Wennlund

James started his endeavor in the financial services realm over a decade ago as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. During his years at Edward Jones, James gained valuable experience helping his clients through the “great recession,” keeping their lives and investments on track as economic crisis prevailed. During various market conditions, James has reviewed investment options with his clients to help them achieve their personal goals and potential generational wealth. He made the decision in August of 2013 to affiliate with Raymond James & Associates in downtown Tempe, Arizona where he not only serves as a Financial Advisor to his clients but as Branch Manager overseeing the other Financial Advisors in his office. This move to Raymond James & Associates allowed him to create Wennlund Wealth Management of Raymond James where he offers investments and products to help meet his clients' goals and needs while adhering to socially responsible investment principles.

Prior to becoming a financial advisor James was a commercial airline pilot and flight instructor where managing risk was his most essential duty, a practice that holds true today. His love for investing and passion for helping others served as the catalyst for leaving the aviation industry and becoming a financial advisor.

James is active in giving back to the local community he serves. He recently graduated from Tempe Leadership’s class of 2014-2015 (Class Thirty) which constructed the Bike Corral, a large scale bike parking project that promotes biking as an alternative transportation method. He now serves on Tempe Leadership’s Board of Directors and Strategic Planning Committee. He has also previously served on Tempe’s Aviation Commission advising elected officials on aviation- and transportation-related issues.

James is a native of Tampa, Florida, just across the bay from Raymond James’ world headquarters. Along with his son Jett and yellow lab Jake, they call beautiful downtown Tempe home. In his free time James enjoys traveling, flying, biking and playing ice hockey.
