Three Fun End of Summer Activities to Invest in in Northern Colorado

With only a month left of summer, it can be hard to decide on which outdoor activities to invest your time and money into. From attending concerts to spending time in the mountains, there are plenty of fun options here in Northern Colorado to invest in. Below are a few summer activities that we enjoy here at Trinen Wealth Management of Raymond James that are all close by and within a reasonable budget!

Northern Colorado Mountains

1. Camping or “Glamping:” If you haven’t already yet, summer is a great time to enjoy the great outdoors of Northern Colorado by camping with your family and friends. Up the Poudre Canyon, there are plenty of campsites located next to lakes or alongside the Poudre River which can be reserved for a small fee. If you would like a little bit less of a rustic camping experience, you can try “glamping” in the yurts located in Cameron Pass, run by the company Never Summer Nordic. To reserve your campsite head to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website https://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/Pages/ParkMap.aspx, and to reserve your Yurt head to https://www.neversummernordic.com/yurts.

*Pro Tip: Don’t forget to check out your local sporting goods store for special end of summer deals on all camping and outdoor activity gear.*

Colorado Summer Concert

2. Attend a Rockies Game or Summer Concert in Denver: Besides heading up to the mountains, there are also great options to invest in summer fun down in Denver. Specifically, if you enjoy baseball, you can attend Rockies games at Coors Field throughout the entire week. If sports aren’t your thing though, there are a variety of fun music concert options at different venues throughout Denver hosting bands that play all genres of music. To buy tickets for Rockies games, head to the MLB website https://www.mlb.com/rockies/tickets, and to book concert tickets in Denver, check out Denver’s event website https://www.denver.org/events/music/.

*Pro Tip: Purchase Rockies tickets on the third base side of the field to avoid melting in the hot summer sun.*

3. Biking throughout Northern Colorado’s Bike Paths: One of the great things about Northern Colorado is the vast network of bike paths across all the towns and cities. If you haven’t already, biking during the summer is a great way to get exercise through the beautiful foothills, or connect you to your favorite restaurant and brewery. For a complete map of the Northern Colorado bike paths, check out Colorado’s Trail Link Website https://www.traillink.com/stateactivity/co-bike-trails/. *Pro Tip: start riding in the morning to avoid afternoon thunder and lightning storms!*

Rules and laws governing 529 plans are varied and subject to change. As with other investments, there are generally fees and expenses associated with participation in a 529 plan. There is also a risk that these plans may lose money or not perform well enough to cover college costs as anticipated. Most states offer their own 529 programs, which may provide advantages and benefits exclusively for their residents. Investors should consider, before investing, whether the investor’s or the designated beneficiary’s home state offers any tax or other benefits that are only available for investment in such state’s 529 college savings plan. Such benefits include financial aid, scholarship funds, and protection from creditors. The tax implications can vary significantly from state to state.

Investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses associated with 529 college savings plans before investing. More information about 529 college savings plans are available in the issuer’s official statement, and should be read carefully before investing.
