Four short hikes in the Northern CO area 1. Horsetooth Falls- 2.35 mi round trip Dogs are allowed on this beautiful introductory hike to Horsetooth mountain. The trail ends at a beautiful waterfall. Make sure to go late spring when there will be water! 2. Arthur's Rock- 3.4 mi round trip This trail allows you to experience different terrains, from open meadows with beautiful wildflowers to forest scenery as you hike to the top. A nice hike, beware of rattlesnakes as we have seen one every time we've gone. (Picture is a view from the top of Arthur's Rock on a cloudy day) 3. Coyote Ridge- 4.1mi round trip Dogs are not allowed on these trails, but this is a great natural area for beginner hikers and very close to Fort Collins. 4. Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park - 0.7mi round trip Make sure to get up early for this one and check reservation requirements! Since it is in the park, if you sleep in, there will be no parking and the trail will be crowded. The drive through RMNP by itself is beautiful and the trail loops around the lake, providing breathtaking views. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite short hikes- let me know what you think! -Christina
