Since beginning his career in the financial industry in 1995, Brien has worked tirelessly to help his clients pursue their financial goals through personalized holistic financial planning and hands-on custom portfolio management. Brien takes pride in assisting clients not only with decisions about their investments, but also with all the financially related decisions affecting their lives. Brien and his team make sure you won't have to worry about making life's financial decisions alone.

Before coming to Raymond James in 2015, Brien held the position of Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, LLC, where he also began his career as an advisor. He has completed the rigorous requirements to achieve the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional certification and continues to meet ongoing certification renewal requirements.

Brien is originally from Bismarck and attended Minnesota State University Moorhead where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in American studies and English. He has also received a presidential appointment as a Student Advisor at the university. Brien lives in Fargo with his wife, Darla, and the couple's three children. He is active in the community with membership in the Knights of Columbus, the Rotary International Fargo West club, and the Chamber of Commerce of Fargo Moorhead. Brien also served as a district committee member and adult leader of the Boy Scouts of America and a past Scoutmaster and founder of Boy Scout Troop 111. As a Financial Advisor with a creative side, Brien is also a published and award winning poet and author of short stories.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner,  CFP Logo Flame Design and  CFP Logo Plaque Design in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
