Claiborne B. "Chip" Morton III, AIF® Senior Qualified Plan Consultant

Chip has dedicated his entire career to qualified plan consulting and managing retirement plans for corporate clients. Passionate and caring, his goal is to help all employees enjoy a prosperous and dignified retirement through quality plan management.

In addition to his consulting practices, Chip is active in Washington to help legislators navigate the complex issues facing the retirement plan industry. He works with the American Retirement Association as an industry advocate and has testified at Department of Labor hearings regarding fiduciary standards.

Chip has been affiliated with Raymond James for 23 years. He founded two companies,, which was acquired by Envestnet in 2014, and Direct 401(k), which was founded in 2016. He was also inventor on a patent, which was acquired by Morningstar in 2016.

Chip is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Air Force prior to beginning his career in the retirement plan industry in 1997.

Chip grew up in McLean, Virginia, and now lives in Miramar Beach, Florida, with his wife, Stacey. They have two children, Lauren and Clay, and a grandson, Michael, who is the light of their lives. In his free time, Chip enjoys sailing and scuba diving.
