ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James has hired Ed Mills as a Public Policy Analyst in the firm’s Equity Research department. Mills will publish periodic research reports to support the firm’s financial services and real estate research practices. With approximately 10 years of experience on Capitol Hill, Mills is well-suited to deliver unique insights and help the firm’s research analysts assess the impact of public policy and regulatory issues on Raymond James covered equities.
“As business and policy increasingly intersect, there’s a deep need to understand how regulatory issues will impact the industries we cover now and in the future,” said Brian Alexander, director of Equity Research. “Ed will integrate into our existing financial and real estate teams, and his addition to the platform will further differentiate our research offering, thus allowing Raymond James to provide more value to our institutional and retail clients.”
Mills began his career as a congressional staffer in 2001 and was responsible for legislative and regulatory issues in a number of areas including financial services, tax and trade, and was a key point of contact between his office and the House Financial Services Committee and the Joint Economic Committee. He later worked as the senior banking and finance policy advisor for the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Mills joins Raymond James from FBR Capital Markets.
“Ed will be able to offer a great deal of insight into key policy issues coming out of Washington, D.C.,” said Jim Bunn, co-president of Global Equities and Investment Banking. While Ed will reside within our Equity Research department, his work will benefit multiple Raymond James departments, including our Private Client Group, Fixed Income and Raymond James Bank. His experience on Capitol Hill will be invaluable as we guide our clients through the changing regulatory environment.”
Mills is based in Washington, D.C.
