Raymond James recognized with two deal-of-the-year awards at annual M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James Investment Banking was recognized with top honors at the 12th annual M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards. The awards were presented at a ceremony held during the M&A Advisor Distressed Investing Summit on March 20 - 22 in Palm Beach, Florida.

This year, the Raymond James Recapitalization & Restructuring team was recognized with two deal-of-the-year awards.

Raymond James was recognized with “Professional Services (B-To-B) Deal of the Year” and “Restructuring Community Impact Deal of the Year.” Both awards were for the $540.5 million preferred stock investment in Roadrunner Transportation Systems completed by Raj Singh, Michael Pokrassa and Rob Schwarz of the Recapitalization & Restructuring team and Chip Grayson, Paul Jones and Kevin Fielder of the Transport & Infrastructure Investment Banking team. The $540.5 million preferred stock investment recapitalized the balance sheet and provided the company with additional working capital with which to operate the business.

This is the first year the team has won the “Restructuring Community Impact Deal of the Year” award, which honors firms for the ability to preserve jobs and going concern value that might otherwise suffer as a result of a chapter 11 process.

“Our 14-person Recapitalization & Restructuring Investment Banking team is committed to delivering comprehensive and effective solutions to companies in financial distress,” said Geoffrey Richards, head of the team. “I’m proud of my colleagues for being recognized for their efforts and the outcomes they continue to deliver to our clients.”

These awards are the most recent in a string of honors for the Raymond James Recapitalization & Restructuring Investment Banking group. In 2017, the team was recognized with two “Deal of the Year” awards, and in 2015 and 2016, they were also recognized as “Investment Banking Firm of the Year” by The M&A Advisor.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by The M&A Advisor for excellence in restructuring expertise. Our continued recognition is a testament to the strength of our team and the results we deliver for our clients,” said Jim Bunn, co-president of Global Equities & Investment Banking at Raymond James.

The M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards celebrate restructuring excellence, recognizing the leading distressed M&A transactions, restructuring, refinancing, products and services, firms and professionals in the United States and international markets. The award winners represent the best of the distressed investing and reorganization industry in 2017. The nominations, representing over 250 participating companies, were judged by an independent jury of industry experts. The professional services (B-to-B) deal of the year award is judged based on challenges, unique attributes, activities of the team, and the benefits to the company and other stakeholders.
