James R. Johnson

Jim joined Raymond James in April 2012 following the firm’s acquisition of Morgan Keegan. Jim began his investment banking career with Wheat, First Securities in 1989 focusing on education related issuers after 10 years of employment at Virginia Commonwealth University where he served as CFO. Until stepping down to focus primarily on educational related issuers, Jim served as manager of the Mid-Atlantic public finance group for both Morgan Keegan (1990 to 2012) and then Raymond James (2012 to 2014) overseeing all public finance activities throughout the region. Jim has more than 20 years’ experience, and has served as financial advisor or senior managing underwriter for numerous colleges, universities, foundations, secondary schools and healthcare organizations. Jim received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and holds Series 50, 52, 53, 63 and 99 professional licenses.
