ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The M&A Advisor has named Jon Steele to its 6th Annual 40 Under 40 Emerging Leaders Awards list. Steele, a managing director and co-head of the Raymond James Investment Banking Technology Services group, was recognized in the Awards’ Dealmaker category on May 18.
“Over the course of my career, it’s been a privilege to work on more than 70 successful deals with outstanding teams of professionals. To be recognized for it is truly an honor,” Steele said.
“Jon’s deep knowledge, relationships and transaction history across the financial technology, human capital management, and marketing and information services sectors have made him one of the leading dealmakers in the industry,” said Jim Bunn, head of Investment Banking at Raymond James. “His aggressive work ethic, creative thinking, tireless client service and tenacious negotiating skills have been a huge asset to our firm and his clients. We applaud all he’s achieved.”
For Steele, this accolade is the latest milestone in a career that has included a quick rise through the ranks of Ernst & Young, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Credit Suisse. In 2002, he helped co-found banking boutique Lane Berry & Co. before joining Raymond James with its acquisition of Lane Berry in 2009.
This is not the first time a Raymond James banker has been named a 40 Under 40 Dealmaker. Brendan Ryan, managing director of the Technology Services group, was named to the 2014 list, and Alper Cetingok, managing director and co-head of the Security, Defense and Government Services group, made the 2013 list. In addition, Raymond James has been the recipient of other accolades from The M&A Advisor in recent months. In April, two deals received Deal of the Year honors at the 2015 International M&A Awards, and Jim Bunn was one of two recipients of the 2015 Leadership Award. In January, the firm was named Investment Banking Firm of the Year.
Launched in 2010, the 40 Under 40 Awards celebrate emerging industry leaders in M&A, financing and restructuring who have achieved significant success before the age of 40. The 2015 winners were selected by an independent judging panel from a pool of prominent nominees for their notable accomplishments in business and service to their communities.
Steele and his fellow 40 Under 40 winners will be honored at a black-tie awards gala to be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan during The M&A Advisor’s upcoming 2015 Emerging Leaders Summit.
