John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics from Lehigh University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Northeastern University. After a successful career as a U.S. Army officer, John and his family settled in Charlottesville, Virginia.

John has more than 20 years of financial planning and investment management experience. He completed the College for Financial Planning CFP® Certification Professional Education Program in 2003 and earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. He is a member of the American Association of Individual Investors and the Financial Services Institute.

John and his wife, Lois, live in Albemarle County. They have two adult children, Katie and Matt, and two adorable grandchildren. John and Lois are members of Grace Community Church. They enjoy hiking, skiing, and traveling. John also enjoys flyfishing and riding BMW motorcycles.
