Meet Your Guide: Derrick J. Glencer, CFP®

Husband, Father, and Strategist for the Journey Ahead.

Life First. Math Second. With over twenty years of experience in financial services, I’ve learned that true success isn't just a number on a balance sheet—it’s a deeply personal set of circumstances unique to your family. I operate with a "Life First" perspective: your goals are the primary driver, and the financial strategy is the engine designed to get you there.

My role is to replace complexity with clarity, creating a roadmap that is as meaningful as it is mathematically sound.

The Specialized Quiver I specialize in helping high-net-worth families in Birmingham and beyond navigate the "Black Diamond" variables of modern wealth:

  • Tax-Alpha Planning: Implementing sophisticated wealth location and withdrawal strategies to optimize what you actually keep.
  • Executive Equity (RSUs): Guiding professionals through the intricacies of Restricted Stock Units and deferred compensation to help secure a lasting legacy.
  • Philanthropic Impact: Utilizing Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) to maximize your charitable reach while enhancing your family’s tax position.

Beyond the Balance Sheet My commitment to our community extends past the office. Since 2012, I’ve served as the Co-Chair of the Motor City Open. Through the Motor City Squash and Education Foundation (MCSEF), I’m proud to have helped raise and donate over $150,000 to local charities like Racquet Up Detroit.

Life in the Village I live in Bloomfield Village with my wife, Dana—a Real Estate Attorney and Partner at Dawda Mann PLLC—and our two daughters, Kate and Ruby.

When I’m not in the office or on the squash court at the BAC, you’ll find me chasing the "Financial Fall Line" on a ski slope, exploring the great outdoors, or playing guitar. I view my role as a partnership, dedicated to increasing your probability of success so you have the freedom to choose your own adventure.
