Doug earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Central Michigan University in 1981. Within his finance major he emphasized the classes covering investment markets. While there, he also earned a minor in economics. He was the founding President of the CMU Finance Club. He also participated in CMU's intercollegiate football program. He made the traveling squad as a preferred walk-on freshman. Then, became starting tight end in his sophomore year. During his 4 years at CMU, the CMU football team lost a total of just 5 games, winning two Mid- American Conference championships.
Doug moved to Northern Michigan in 1983 and currently resides in Bliss Michigan. He has 3 grown daughters who attended Harbor Springs Public Schools and three grandchildren at this time.
An active member of his community, Doug has been involved with several organizations over the past 30 years. His volunteer work has included the Harbor Springs Chamber of Commerce, Camp Daggett, Leadership Little Traverse, Harbor Springs Kiwanis, Little Traverse Historical Society, Harbor Hall, and the CMU Alumni Board. Additionally he has served on the board of the Y of Northern Michigan as well as the Great Lakes Lightkeepers Association. He is currently active in the Sunrise Rotary Club.
When he's not working with clients or serving his community, Doug enjoys golfing, kayaking, and a variety of outdoor winter sports.
Doug enjoys the "lifetime student" aspect of his career. Keeping up on the financial markets as well as studying the trends in financial planning through reading and attending industry workshops.
