Joanne has been fortunate to have lived in Charlevoix for the last thirty-five years and continues to be grateful for the wonders of Northern Michigan that surround us each day, for the varied outdoor activities that we are able to experience and the beautiful lakes and natural areas we are able to access and enjoy. The lasting friendships and client relationships that have culminated through the years have kept her young enough to take pleasure in her out-of-the-office time and her days at the office assisting clients to balance today’s needs with tomorrow’s goals.
Years ago (1969) she was a Michigan State University graduate and still cheers for the Spartans on an on-going basis. Following graduation she entered the legal arena in Lansing, Escanaba and Marquette, together with positions teaching at Northern Michigan University, and volunteering with many community non-profit organizations in all three locations. Having been blessed with a son, and to be closer to family, 1979 brought the Curtis family to Charlevoix to begin a new adventure. At that time saving for their son’s college was a priority and she focused on attaining this goal through a commitment to disciplined saving.
It was gratifying to become affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. in May of 1985 and to be able to transfer her interest in saving, investments and planning with others. Her Securities license came first, followed by her real estate, life, health and annuity licensing. With an emphasis on trust and personal service, she is able to provide guidance, development, implementation and monitoring of investment goals and needs to both individuals and businesses throughout Michigan and beyond. She has transferred this enthusiasm by speaking to organizations and groups and presenting seminars to spark interest and increase knowledge so others would be encouraged to begin the steps to fulfill their financial goals and objectives whether it be educational, retirement or estate planning.
Throughout her life community involvement has been important and in Charlevoix she has served on many boards and committees for her Church, Chip Counseling Center, Inc., Zonta Club, Keep Charlevoix Beautiful, Inc., Charlevoix Area Community Pool, Char-Em United Way and currently Charlevoix Evening Garden Club. With her “kids” (son and wife) and three beautiful grandchildren in the Grand Rapids area her board and committee work has morphed slightly into traveling to-and-from the coloring books, cookie baking and story books with fairies and princesses. As a grandparent, she loves every minute of it! Joanne’s philosophy could be coined that “the journey toward individual or extended investment planning can start anytime—even at the age of grandchildren”.
