Building relationships with clients while getting to know their unique stories is one of the driving forces behind Kim’s work as a financial advisor. She specializes in finding out where her clients come from and where they want to go, collaborating with them to develop strategies that align with their financial goals.
No matter what clients need – whether they want her present at a meeting with estate attorneys or need assistance navigating Social Security and healthcare costs as they prepare for retirement – they can turn to Kim. Knowledgeable and relatable, Kim helps clients feel at ease and has vast experience working with retirees and widows, particularly creating income plans and establishing asset preservation strategies. When she’s not with clients, Kim spends her time researching and staying current on the ever-changing financial landscape.
A graduate of Western Michigan University, Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a double minor in business administration and economics. She began her career in 1995 at a full service discount broker in Traverse City, Michigan. Prior to joining Raymond James in 2019, Kim worked as a vice president and senior financial advisor at Huntington Financial Advisors, where she stayed for over a decade. Always seeking to learn more and advance in her field, Kim has obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation and the CLTC® certification in Long-Term Care.
Kim first became interested in the investment field while enrolled in a high school economics class, where she and her team won a stock picking competition. Since her introduction to finance, Kim has learned that the investment field is about much more than investments. To her, it’s about how to guide clients as they work to preserve, use and transfer their assets.
An active member of her community, Kim has volunteered with the Zonta Club of Petoskey – a women’s service organization – for 25 years. She also volunteers with the National Ski Patrol at Boyne Highlands as a senior alpine patroller and is a certified outdoor emergency care instructor. Additionally, Kim works as an instructor and evaluator to help patrollers in the northern Michigan region who are seeking to refine their first aid skills and achieve certain certifications.
Originally from Traverse City, Michigan, Kim makes her home in Harbor Springs with her husband, Darrell, and their son, Andrew. During summer, you can find Kim and her family boating and trolling for salmon in the Great Lakes, while their winters are devoted to enjoying the many outdoor activities northern Michigan has to offer.
