For Steve, the post-college-graduation path did not lead to the profession he enjoys today. Instead, it led to two terms as mayor of Gardner, Massachusetts, from 1974 to 1978. After leaving his mayoral post, Steve went to work for Paine Webber Jackson & Curtis, and began serving the financial planning and investment needs of clients. Over the years that followed, Steve would also work at other notable firms such as Dean Witter Reynolds, Morgan Stanley and UBS Financial Services before joining Raymond James in 2015.
A founding member of Elm Wealth Management Group and a dedicated professional, Steve has achieved the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠. Advisors who hold the CRPC® designation have completed a course of study encompassing pre- and post-retirement needs, asset management, estate planning, and the entire retirement planning process using models and techniques from real client situations. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, Steve has passed the comprehensive CFP® certification examination and the CFP® board's Fitness Standards for Candidates and Registrants, and has agreed to abide by CFP® board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Rules of Conduct which put clients' interests first.
Originally from Gardner, Massachusetts, Steve attended the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Science, and Anna Maria College, where he earned his MBA. He also attended the Aresty Institute of Executive Education at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Steve attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. He was also awarded a Sons of the American Revolution medal as a member of the U.S. Air Force ROTC.
Steve’s desire to serve others has always been evident throughout his life as well as today. His work in the community includes serving as treasurer for You, Inc., Worcester, Massachusetts, and sitting on the board of Worcester County Food Bank and the Quinsigamond Community College Foundation. Steve was also an incorporator of the Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital and the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.
Today, Steve and his wife, Janet, maintain a home in Sterling, Massachusetts, and York, Maine. Outside the office, when he’s not volunteering or mentoring, Steve enjoys golf, reading gardening and cooking.
